Saturday Night Dance Party!

This is how I am feeling right now.

Dance like no one's watching.

Sing like no one's listening.

"Sing Sing Sing" - Benny Goodman on clarinet, Harry Goodman on bass, Gene Krupa on drums, Harry James on trumpet.

"I Got a Heart Full of Song" - Benny Goodman on clarinet, Gene Krupa on drums, Lionel Hampton on vibes, and Teddy Wilson on piano.  They don't make 'em like this any more!

Only 190 days til...(you know what!)

  3. Our Saturday night dance party is going to be HMS Pinafore. Hardly a disco dance.

  4. Most of the best on the same sound stage. They were all so young and talented, and SKINNY!!! Great music for a rainy afternoon. Thanks.

  5. It's an unfortunate soul who can't respond to this.
Although I just don't get 'pure' jazz' (though wish I did, and, Lord, have I tried!) this brand of it is just terrific. It sure gets the adrenalin flowing.

Btw: You may already know, A.M., but Benny Goodman was a man of wide repertoire. There were several modern classical composers (such as Aaron Copland) who wrote concertos and other pieces for him. In fact back in the 60s and 70s his recording of the Mozart Clarinet Concerto was considered the definitive one to have, but had to give way only when superior recording techniques came along.
