Saturday Night Dance Party!

This is how I am feeling right now.

Dance like no one's watching.

Sing like no one's listening.

"The Nairobi Trio: Solfeggio".  Information about this clip is here.

(guest programmed today by spouse; spouse wore the drumstick-wielding ape costume to work on Thursday for Halloween.)

Only 149 days til...(you know what!)

UPDATE: as requested, here is spouse in costume!  The things we do for the boyfriends...

  1. I hope this registers me as being the first to comment this week, A.M. As I'm at this moment listening to the radio (a political discussion) on this computer I'll have to come back in a few mins to listen to your clip, but it'll give me time to put on my dancing shoes.

    1. Well, as it turns out, hardly a piece to dance to, A.M. - unless it's comical rhythmically-swaying.
Never heard of this act before and I'm not aware of any Brit equivalents - from that same or any era.
Weren't any pics taken of the hubby in costume? Would LOVE to have seen that.

    2. yes, dear, you have regained your "first commenter" crown!

ernie kovacs was a great comedian AND a great philadelphian from the early days of tv.

so what do you think of the costume?

    3. Hey, that rig-out is really impressive. Now tell me, are you trying to bamboozle us? - is that you or your hubby underneath that lot?

    4. nope, it's spouse. on our sunporch yesterday, about 3:30p. I took the pix. notice the lack of boobs; if I were the costume wearer, my boobs would be OUT there.

one of spouse's co-workers, upon seeing his costume, told him it was "an improvement" over his regular face. lucky for him, he knew ruth was joking, and they both laughed.

    5. Your turn next year then, A.M.

That comment by your hubby's co-worker reminds me of my own tendency to come out with gauche, unintentionally offensive remarks. One time a colleague came to a Xmas charity do wearing a Santa outfit, complete with white beard and whiskers. When I said, jestingly, that it made him look 20 years younger he was NOT amused. Sour looks for the entire evening ensued.

    6. I have met ruth, so I know she was not making an unkind remark towards spouse. spouse and I trade one-liners like this all the time; after 21 years, it's still funny.

    1. my first memory of early tv was "the mickey mouse club". shows done live and in black-n-white; how primitive it seems today, no?

  7. This is great!. Your are broadening my horizons.

Ernie K is unusual for me. I know who he was but, for some unknown reason, he never really broke out of that "before my time" category of entertainers. That is odd since many of his contemporaries and even predecessors are people I have come to enjoy over the years. Thanks for sharing
