Saturday Night Protest Party!

This is how I am feeling right now.

Dance like no one's watching.

Sing like no one's listening.

"You're Only Human" -
Judge TS Ellis before giving Paul Manafort his sentence noted he "lived an otherwise blameless life, was a good friend, and a generous person to others."  YEAH RIGHT!  FUCKING WHITE PRIVILEGE!  FUCKING RETHUG JUDGE!

"Keep believing. Keep marching. Keep building. Keep raising your voice. Every generation has the opportunity to remake the world.” - Barack Obama, July 2018

PS - HAPPY BIRTHDAY (March 13) to DUCHESS DEEDLES

  1. The Manafort sentence is the perfect example of white, privileged people getting away with murder. I hope the next judge throws the book at him.
Did you notice that he got to the sentencing in a WHEELCHAIR? Ugh.

    XOXO

  3. Wonder what Ellis would have done if it was a black man with an otherwise blameless life?
    The death penalty.
Just another case of an old white man helping an old white man.

  5. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! Deedles and my mother are one day apart! Happy Birthday Deedles!!!!! 🎈🎂🎈🎂🎈🎂🍸

Meanwhile people have been telling me to keep my mouth low and watch my people skills when trump and cronies come up. I tell them, my people skills are just fine...it's my tolerance for idiots that needs work.

    2. Well, as luck would have it, Mitchell says there is a guy in vegas that you can indeed kick in the nuts for $10!!!!

As to be a republican. There the only fool who would charge for such a thing. And enjoy it.

  6. This is one of my favorite Billy Joel songs. It will now take one a whole new meaning. I'll get over it. Thanks for the birthday shout out, Carebear. I don't observe that awe inspiring day myself, but I appreciate the thought :)

  7. How y'all doing in that national 'state of emergency' which you're in? No golf, I suppose? I read that your weather hasn't been exactly conducive to that particular activity, though I think it's got a bit less freezing with you now.
All fine here, though could do with it being a wee bit warmer - and with Easter a mere six weeks away.
Have a 'successful' w/e - and give OUR greetings to the little ladies, please.
    See ya!

    1. OMB, the "state of emergency" has us so overwhelmed with ennui!

yesterday we ran errands in sweatshirts; no winter coats needed. today it's raining and breaking down the white crap we received last weekend.

the snowdrop flowers have appeared this week. daffy buds are poking up thru the mud. the girls spent yesterday on the warm sunporch.

today we are going to the movies to see "stan & ollie", then we will eat indian food from the restaurant next to the cinema. here is the cinema: https://amblertheater.org

smooches to all at your house!

    2. I've looked up the website you've provided for your 'Ambler Theatre', W.Q. - sorry, 'TheatER'! It looks a most handsome and welcoming place. Comfortable too. I've a fascination for seeing cinemas I've not been to before, and when I used to travel a lot in Europe (as well as in England), whenever I visited a place then new to me, it was a compulsory stop to see a film in at least one of its cinemas.

I hoped you liked 'Stan and Ollie' as much as I did. I thought both the leads were astonishingly accurately portrayed. I don't know if you can now recall the 5-minute scene on their tour where they visit a seaside Lido and where Ollie collapsed on stage for the first time. Did you pick up the mention (twice!) of being in Worthing which was, in fact, filmed at that very same Lido just a mile from where I'm writing this. I'd heard that they were going to film a scene in this town. I just didn't know when and where - and when I saw it on screen, somewhere I pass at least once every week, I hope I might be forgiven for a quite modest swelling of chest in pride.

I think our Winter's coming to its end, one can never be sure. I only wish Spring would be a bit more assertive to show that it really is here. Something like the same for you, I guess.

Just watched on TV catch-up the latest four-hour 'Neverland' documentary, and Oprah's follow-up interview show. Strikes me that those who proclaiming it's all lies are very much of the same type as current POTUS supporters who confidently assert that their 'idol' can never do anything wrong, let alone plain evil. Same goes for R.C. Church defenders. Did you watch or are you trying to avoid, or just sick of the whole damn thing?

      See you later.

    3. it IS a wonderful comfortable old theater; we had many of those in Philadelphia before they were all destroyed for stupid office buildings. this cinema is about 25 minutes from our house.

we LOVED the film! and I DID pick up on the worthing reference; I told todd that is where you live. looks like a lovely place. todd felt as you did about the portrayals. stan & ollie were like a married couple, they understood each other. I found it sad that after ollie died, stan kept on writing scenes for the two of them. too much smoking and drinking and gambling on poor ollie's part done him in.

didn't watch the jackson docu; I'm sick of the whole mess. such a talent, yet such a pervert!

    4. Your 'local' cinema certainly looks classy and stylish, not one of these big monster characterless multiplexes which put you off even entering. We have a smallish but characterful local here too, going back to the 1920s, in fact just a but along on the opposite side of the road from that Lido. Meanwhile, nearby Brighton owns the oldest still-operating cinema in the whole country, large though still just the one screen. Full of character, again. I luv seeing films in places like these,
So very pleased that the both of you appreciated 'Stan & Ollie' so much. A very poignant film - very bitter-sweet in a way.
I still find their films just about the funniest things I've ever seen on screen. Btw: I believe that, not referred directly to in 'Stan & Ollie', Hardy was for many years verbally bullied by his (unfaithful) wife, but he stoically put up with her unreasonable behaviour. It gives an added sympathetic note to that character. Maybe he found his true 'partner' in Laurel. Pity that this film didn't feature in the Oscars as much as it deserved.

    5. I googled "worthing" yesterday, and read about the dome theatre. and read other facts/pix about the town too. VERY interesting.

the ambler has 3 screens, and shows only movies adults would like. no brats, no teenagers, no talking, no texting; it's a pleasure not to have to deal with that garbage whilst trying to watch a film.

I also read the wikipedia entries on laurel and hardy; oh my, so many marriages between the two men!

    6. Towns almost always look more attractive on the screen, W.Q. Worthing is very much a place to retire to and live out the twilight years of ones life. It has the second highest average population age of all the towns and cities in the country. I don't want to expire here (still too active to be ready for that!) with my sights still on Oxford, which is just too darned pricey for me with present resources - but that remains my dream which I'm counting on to be realised somehow.
Wprthing's main claims to fame, which you probably picked up are its associations with Oscar Wilde (he wrote 'Importance of Being Earnest' here, as well as my favourite 20th century playwright, Harold Pinter. Not much else, though that's still enough to be proud of.

I knew that Stan Laurel ha been multi-married, but not Ollie. (Laurel was actually born less than 100 miles from where I grew up). Two intriguing men, one can't argue with that. They made millions of our lives so much richer, bless them.

  10. Happy Saturday and Happy Birthday, Deedles! That Manafort sentence really pissed me off. The only way I'll be happy is if the other sentence coming will be the maximum and consecutive, or if he is extradited to the Ukraine to face charges there.

  11. The sentence was a slap on the wrist. I was hoping he would get 25 years. Let's see what the female judge will give him. You know women has a reputation for cleaning up messes created by men. RJJS

  12. An otherwise blameless life?? What color is the sky on that judge's planet? As a white male I am thoroughly embarrassed by this creep!

  13. Thanks for sharing this song. An oldie but goodie! Unbelievable that he didn't get a longer sentence!
