FINAL Pic of the Day - May 31

FUCK YEAH, I DID IT!

Thanks to dear Kelly for challenging me; this was not easy to do.  I second JayInVA's statement that trying to post 31 pix in 31 days is a bit much.  But we met the insurmountable task!

This is my home, a 1941 Cape Cod style.  3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, LR, DR, kitchen, full basement, sunporch, fireplace, 2 car garage, 1/2 acre.  Plaster walls and hardwood floors throughout too.  Comfortable for us and the cats.  It needs a paint job soon.  And a new roof too.

Pic of the Day - May 30

I was sick on 5/30; nausea, headache, tired, dizzy.  Sue me cause I didn't post.

As a reward for being so patient, you get not 1, not 2, but 3 pix in this post!

Yesterday my peonies bloomed; OMB, do they smell nice!

My bell flowers also bloomed this week.  They have no scent.

.

This picture is for Dr. Spo.  I finally found out the name of these tomatoes - Bonnie Celebrity.  There are 12 blossoms on this plant!

Pic of the Day - May 29

This is spouse's BFF, Rob (aka Janey).  He is wearing the poncho I knit for him, for which Rob bought the yarn AND paid me for my mad needle skillz!

I met Rob in 1991, but I feel like I have known him all my life; girlfriend is just that nice!  And the stories he can tell; oh my stars and bars!

I love ya honey!  Wear it with pride!

Pic of the Day - May 28

Pink rhododendron from my other neighbor's (zeebah neighbah) house.  Pity me, for I have no rhodos.

Pic of the Day - May 27

Coneflowers - pretty damn kewl!  At night they close up tight and resemble an ice cream cone.  Now I want ice cream...anybody have B&J's chunky monkey around?

Pic of the Day - May 26

The lily of the valley (muguet; merci, nadege) FINALLY bloomed; they were about 3 weeks late.

Unfortunately, they are already dead and gone.  Their perfume was in the air for a week, then vanished.  Until next year...

Pic of the Day - May 25

Honey locust tree blossoms; OMB, they DO smell like honey!

Of course, they are now gone; blown away by the wind and rain yesterday. :(

Pic of the Day - May 24

This is the last of the office pix.  My boss bought this for me.  He knows me a bit too well, m'kay?

The sentiment expressed on this plaque DOES NOT apply to my boyfriends; however, it DOES apply to str8 guys (with a few exceptions).

Pic of the Day - May 23

See?  I told you on May 19 that the view from my desk is not that great.  Jim's is better.

This "ancient" GE clock radio was a gift from my ex-spouse 30 years ago.  WTH, it still works!

Currently it plays classical music, but I can get it to play current hits, or classic rock, or moldy oldies, or R&B.  And sometimes it plays baseball games (if there is a 1p starting time).

As long as I keep the volume low (and do not shout at it during a ball game) the boss doesn't mind.

Pic of the Day - May 22

This is a clever 2013 calendar courtesy of my boss's wife; she knows I like cats.  Every month there is a new puddy tat to view.  He sits with the elephant from yesterday's pic on my work desk.  This is another one of the menagerie (not glass; get it?).

Gratuitous Nyla pix for Raybeard.

Pic of the Day - May 21

This is a hand-carved/painted stone elephant from India.  Our rep in Mumbai (aka Bombay) gave him to me.  He sits with the zebra from yesterday's pic on my work desk.  This is another one of the menagerie (not glass; get it?).

Pic of the Day - May 20

This is a hand-carved/painted wooden zebra from South Africa.  My co-worker brought it back after one of his trips to Johannesburg.  This is one of the menagerie (not glass; get it?) that sits on my work desk.

Pic of the Day - May 19

This is where I spend 40 hours a week for my daily bread.  Yes, there is a mini teddy bear and my Diet Pepsi and my road atlas and my world map and my ever-present tissue box on my desk.  Did I ever tell you that geography fascinates me?

My windows to the world are on my left.  Unfortunately, the view is not as glamorous as Jim's.  You will see that view in a pic later this week.

Brain Puke XV

Lots o shit swirling around in the toilet bowl that is my brain. Let's capture some of it here.

I received some hate-fil-a-hole coupons in the mail today.  Guess where they wound up?  IN THE DIRTY TRASH!

Cripes, next weekend is the unofficial start of summer: Memorial Day Weekend.  I'll stay home, thanks.

Work has been VERY slow the past 2 months.  Not good. :(

Hawaiian pizza sure tastes good after a long work week!

Sweet baby cheeses, Beyonce is preggers; now we will have to hear every fucking tiny detail about THIS cow on top of Kash Kow and Kate Middleton and Jessica Simpson.  Who gives a shit!

Every time I go grocery shopping, the prices keep rising.  Unfortunately, my income is not.

I think I can finally turn off the heat at night.  The quilts stay on the beds, just in case.

Why are they still playing pro basketball?  It's damn near June.

Why are most people so fucking stoopid they couldn't find their way out of a wet paper bag?

I saw a baby bunny in my back yard last night!

One of spouse's tomato plants has yellow flowers!

Those tornadoes in TX - OMB!  I hope I never have to experience anything like that in my lifetime.

Someone down the street has a Harley; every fucking time he leaves his house, he just HAS to make as much noise as he can with that thing.  Guess what, asshole?  You are not impressing anyone; cut it out NOW!

We are too damn broke to take a long vacation this year (again).  We will NOT max out the credit cards to go on vacation, like some of our fellow Americans do.  Instead, day trips to local venues in October will tide us over.

My baseball team has been one frustrating thing after another this year.

Why do I wake up every morning with a hairball (or what feels like a hairball)?  The cat kids are a bad influence on me.

Weekends are never long enough.

I just saw a robin slurp a big worm down his throat.  Reminded me of spaghetti.  And something so wonderfully naughty (hee hee).

The damn grass needs mowing again.  And the laundry ain't gonna wash itself.

And Pat Robertson is an old misogynist tool.

Saturday Night Dance Party!

This is how I am feeling right now.

Dance like no one's watching.

Sing like no one's listening.

"Jeopardy" - I'll take DILFs for $1000, Alex!

Only 334 days til...(you know what!)

BONUS SATURDAY!

Inspired by Sean R's comment from last week, I present Weird Al Yankovic's parody.  Notice Greg Kihn's band members AND Dr. Demento are the TV crew and Greg himself has a cameo!

Ah, Art Fleming and the old school stage set.  Memories...

Pic of the Day - May 18

I bought this duck over 25 years ago from an old man on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  He's probably long gone by now.  But he hand made/painted these cute wooden ducks.

I put the duck outside on a windy day and listen to the wings spin in the breeze.  And it changes direction just like a weather vane.

I have no idea what this flower is.  It's pretty, yet it has no fragrance.  Betcha Sean R knows!

My purple iris have finally bloomed!  I know Jim's iris have probably come and gone by now, but we have been cold up north y'all! ;-b

Pic of the Day - May 15

My OLD back (kitchen) outside door.  Thin aluminum, not energy efficient, bottom glass pane shattered this past January.  This door came with the house; dog only knows how old it was.  What a piece o shit!

My NEW back (kitchen) outside door.  Heavy aluminum, energy efficient, deadbolt lock, window screen.  I can lock the door and lower the screen and not have to worry about the cats escaping outside, yet I can let in the breeze.

The installer took off the old door in 10 minutes.  He spent the next 2+ hours installing the new door.  Apparently trying to drill through concrete and stucco is difficult.  But he was a professional.

And yes, we DO have an Obama sticker on the inside door, and a pet tag in case of fire.  And the inside door still has a skeleton key lock (and a damn thick deadbolt too!).

The dogwood tree has finally bloomed!  But no fragrance...quelle dommage. :(

Pic of the Day - May 13

Gratuitous pussy pic for Raybeard.  Nyla was sunning herself on the porch yesterday.  "Paint me like a French girl."

Home made (in the bread maker) honey oatmeal bread hot outta da pan.  What's in it?  Flour, water, yeast, honey, oatmeal, salt, dry milk, olive oil.  Notice what's NOT in it?  High fructose corn syrup, artificial anything, preservatives, additives.  You can pronounce all the ingredients and I made this loaf for about 70 cents.  BOO YAH!

My neighbor (she of the wisteria from May 7 and the pottery bowl from May 2) has grape hyacinths growing around her yard.  Since one of my fave colors is purple, squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Saturday Night Dance Party!

This is how I am feeling right now.

Dance like no one's watching.

Sing like no one's listening.

"Safety Dance" - wrap it up, I'll take it!

Only 341 days til...(you know what!)

ETA - has anyone else noticed that this video seems to have only 7 shots?  and that it repeats in an endless loop?  and that the chick seems to have a serious crackhead problem?  and that the little person enjoys being spanked?  and that the lead singer looks deranged?

Pic of the Day - May 11

This shelf represents my late FIL, he of the Snoopy figurines in yesterday's post.

FIL was in the Navy in the late 50s; he served on the USS Lake Champlain.  His baseball glove, a letter, a pipe, and a crock with his ashes rest on the shelf.  Below the shelf is a photo collage of spouse's family.

Pic of the Day - May 10

My late FIL had a love for all things Peanuts, especially Snoopy.  Spouse gave these ceramic figurines to his father for several birthdays and xmooses.  FIL even built this cabinet to house the mementos.

When he died, my MIL gave them back to spouse.  So now we have the Peanuts gang - all 12 of them.

Pic of the Day - May 9

My baseball shelf in my china cabinet in the dining room.  I know my team sucks on toast this season, but they are the only team I have.

The bulldog (in the front) is made of stones glued together and painted white with a red shirt; the shirt says "go phillies".  The stein commemorates the 2008 world champions.  And the plate on the left is drunk; too much beer I suppose.  ;-b

I also have 3 signed baseballs and 2 stadium replicas (Veterans Stadium and Citizens Bank Park).

Pic of the Day - May 6

Yeah, that's right, you are not seeing things, you are stone cold sober.  The str8 girl has pink flamingos in her back yard.  My SIL's deceased aunt loved to do woodwork.  So these guys are hand-painted wood (heh heh heh, I said "wood") with metal legs/necks and google eyes.

They are standing and waiting for my lily of the valley (les fleurs de lis) to bloom.  They are late this year; damn cold weather.  Normally by 5/1 I have some to pick for May Day; not this year.  C'mon, bloom already!

And I have a Victorian era gazing ball/magic ball (heh heh heh, I said "ball").  Cause that's the way I roll, YO!

OMB, this was sooooo damn goooood!  smooth chocolate fudge with real maple syrup crystals!

it's canadian, eh? :)

I received this candy (and a few other canadian-only chocolates) in a swap package from a fellow knitting friend in ontario this february.  the blue stuff below the candy is silk yarn.  I still have the yarn; the fudge didn't last very long around here! ;-)

Pic of the Day - May 1 and 2

So Kelly (the dear) has thrown down a challenge to all his blogger friends - a picture a day in May.  EEEEEP!

Since it is now 2a on 5/2, I have a bit-o-catch-up to do.  Here goes.

My two pussy girls - meredith (age 12) on the left, nyla (age 6) on the right.  Both are rescue cats from a local no cage, no kill shelter.

A ceramic yarn bowl; hand-thrown pottery made by my neighbor from recycled clay.
