Saturday Night Protest Party!
This is how I am feeling right now. Dance like no one's watching. Sing like no one's listening. "Immigration Man" - won't you let me in? RESIST! ORGANIZE! MOBILIZE! CALL OUT THE H8!
G'day, W.Q., Are you still in frail condition with your seasonal ailments? If so, hope it's not so debilitating as to seriously limit what you want or need to do.
Didn't now this track at all, though Graham Nash's distinct vocals make it easy to recognise whose song it is. It's clear as to the reason for your posting this, as the building of that "Big, Beautiful Wall" starts getting underway.
I hear on this morning's news that our BBC is now on the White House's 'Not Wanted' list for press briefings. (FAKE NEWS!) Not that this should cause much concern per se as it's in such august company. Strange that in this country, if there's any criticism of the BBC at all, it comes as being too fawning over the present POTUS. But on the general matter of who's allowed to report, inevitably puts one in mind of certain dictatorships where particular media outlets are shut down for not giving constant favourable reports of the governing bodies' activities. Not that this could ever happen in the West, thank the Lord!
We're all okay here, i.e. me and the 'Gang of FOUR' - yes, Shaggy now seems to have invited him/herself in and has slept here every night for over two weeks now. Still got no idea where s/he came from, but am expected to provide feeds several times daily. What can one do other than but to comply?
Hope your Spring is advancing to cheer you up. It's coming on slowly here - too slow, though it does does seem like Winter's just about over now.
Have a jolly fine w/e, with regards to RTG and your trio of little lovables, and we'll speak with you later. So for now, byeeeeee.
I had to see my doctor last monday; after 3 weeks, my illness had progressed to a critical point (partially blacking out whilst coughing/trying to breathe). 2 different meds for acute asthmatic bronchitis and acute sinusitis. last tuesday no work; just rest and chicken soup. feeling MUCH better today. so is RTG.
FUCK THAT WALL! FUCK THE ORANGE SHITSTAIN! FUCK THE GAG ORDER ON THE PRESS!
another little visitor, eh? you have a good heart, king, for all creatures great and small.
the spring flowers/tree buds began appearing this week due to some VERY unseasonable warm temps.
Had no idea your condition had been so deep down, W.Q. We knew it had been bad but not as being below even the cellar level it seems you were. Must have been scary. Thank the gods for seeing you through it, even though you may not yet feel completely up to par. May your recuperation continue until you're skipping and jiving around the living room and causing extreme consternation to your pussies as to your mental state.
Shaggy's sleeping on the top shelf of a wall cupboard right now. I get the feeling that because he disappears for many hours on end and isn't all that hungry when he comes in, he might be using me as a home-from-home rather than as a completely new domicile. It makes me feel a bit better, as is also the fact that I can trace no teats at all on him, so if I'm right he shouldn't be sprouting any kitties, I hope. (Blackso has prominent teats. Maybe it's something to do with having been 'doctored' at a very early stage.)
I doubt if my foursome see me as having a 'good heart'. More likely a big softie where they know they can run rings round me and I won't be a threat - to which I plead 'Guilty'.
Those pictures made me think of Kirk Douglas, whose parents immigrated from Russia and entered New York in that way. I wonder what he's thinking about at the age of 100!
Let's us not forget who we are. We, almost each and every one of us, are either immigrants or children of immigrants. And just 'cause someone accidentally was born into this world a white xtain male don't mean shit.
I have never heard this song, but you always seem to have the perfect songs for a resist, organize, mobilize. I was mobile the morning, but then went back to bed.
Not heard this song before. Good video. I saw an article in The Times (London) newspaper yesterday. Digitally reworked black and white pics of immigrants from early 1900s arriving at Ellis Island. They'd been reworked and coloured. Stupid thing to say but they looked modern. Just like us. I think that was the idea... Getting geared up for Saturday night at The Onion. Have a good weekend honey. JP
my great-grandparents came from austria, czech republic, and UK to the USA. unless you are a native american indian, everyone is an immigrant here. try deporting all 330M of us, dump!
Just in case anyone is listening....... I have lived in Southern California (very near the border) for most of the second half of my life ( and I'm really old). I have never seen or heard of an "act of terror" being committed by a Mexican immigrant, legal or illegal. And.........I have never seen any of the White Rednecks standing in line for all those field work jobs that they say the Mexican immigrants are taking from Americans ??????????
G'day, W.Q.,

ReplyDeleteinteresting thought, noble ape. would my great-grandparents be welcome here today? probably not. :(
DeleteFunny how a nation built on and by and for immigrants has suddenly turned into such an anti-immigrant country.
ReplyDeleteJust one more reason to RESIST.
