I remember this on the news when I was an adolescent. It was SO shocking. And of course, that iconic photo of the female student grieving over the body of her friend.
I used to live in Cleveland and we knew tons of kids who were going to Kent State. We went there every year to stand in solidarity with people protesting this! Outrageous.
It's weird, but I remember when JFK was shot and I was seven. When this happened I was 14 and have absolutely no first hand memory of it. The same with the moon landing. I've learned about it from watching documentaries and such.
Can this really be 50 years ago?!? Unbelievable. Part of my coming of age... or my losing of faith. The song still gives me the shivers.

Still breaks my heart.
ReplyDeleteEspecially knowing that it could happen again, because we, as Americans never learn.
Sad it took a pandemic to curb daily shootings.
