FINAL Pic of the Day - May 31

FUCK YEAH, I DID IT!

Thanks to dear Kelly for challenging me; this was not easy to do.  I second JayInVA's statement that trying to post 31 pix in 31 days is a bit much.  But we met the insurmountable task!

This is my home, a 1941 Cape Cod style.  3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, LR, DR, kitchen, full basement, sunporch, fireplace, 2 car garage, 1/2 acre.  Plaster walls and hardwood floors throughout too.  Comfortable for us and the cats.  It needs a paint job soon.  And a new roof too.

  1. That's cute! Is your house exterior stucco? I've never seen ivy grow on anything except stone, brick, or stucco.

    1. stucco it is! good eye!

the interior is plaster walls, not drywall. and there are steel beams in the basement holding up the first floor. and big black cast iron sewage pipes to remove the waste. THIS is how houses used to be built; not like those cardboard, crazy glue, and staples the builders use today.

    2. How does the stucco stand up to the weather? It wouldn't last well up where we are.

I'm very partial to plaster walls. Drywall is one of the cheapest, crappiest building materials.

If money were no object, we'd have a steel-frame house built, with a brick or stone exterior, and plaster walls inside. (No rubbish, as Dr. Spo likes to say.)

      I don't want much. :-)

    3. the stucco has stood up well. but it could use some paint; we are saving up for the job. the neighbor across the street is a house painter and would give us an excellent price.

yep, my house is not made of rubbish!

  2. Man, would I kill for some stucco! Bet the damn nuthatches and squirrels wouldn't chew through that!

Thanks so much for the SHOUTOUT!

    Peace <3

    1. thank you, dear! 13 years ago, we fell in love with this house cause it had everything we wanted. and it takes spouse only 40 minutes to run the john deere over the grass.

would you believe this house is only 17 miles from the northwestern border of philadelphia (chestnut hill section)?

  5. Hey Anne Marie, Cool old house, I rented a stucco house for awhile. It was multi colored and people thought it was stone. Now I bought a 1 1/2 story bungolow, as soon as I'm done re-doing the bath and kitchen I'll fill it with a few cats. Randy.

    1. hi honey! pussies make a home; I have had 5 here during my 13 years, 3 are now deceased. good luck with your remodel project!

PS - WHEN are you going to start a blog so we can "meet" you and your pussies to be? raybeard LOVES the kitties!

    2. Cosy-looking domicile, A.M.- something Germans would call 'gemutlich' (no completely accurate translation in English.) Especially love the foliage around the windows. I note that you've got to expend a significant outlay on its upkeep imminently.
It may not be as isolated as it looks but is it completely secure against burglars etc? That would be a major concern for me even though I'd LOVE to live in a home like this.
And very well done for completing the challenge too!

Btw: Thanks for your 'plug' above - and not for the first time. Maybe the more people who know of my love for pussies the greater chance I have for finding a compatible, pussy-loving life-partner - before my last grains of sand finally slip down into the lower chamber!

    3. the neighbors are right next to me/across the street, so I am not isolated. the house also came with a security system, and all the foliage.

roofing and painting would probably be done together.

have you ever thought about online "dating"? believe it or don't, that's how spouse and I met.

    4. I did it once, about 5 years ago, A.M. Specifying someone around my own age, after meeting once we didn't bother to keep contact - which says it all. I might try it again but my flat is in such a state (really needing professional cleaners, which I can't afford) I'd have to make it a condition of no meeting on my 'home ground).
