Brain Puke XXIII

Look out, boyfriends, I'mma gonna hurl!

Only 5 more days til baseball season starts! :)

Only 31 more days til the bloggerpalooza meetup! :)

Only 42 more days of winter. :(

Today is the 50th anniversary of the Beatles appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show.

I was 9 years old; I was transfixed.  My parental units were not impressed.  My sister was 4 and didn't give a damn.  My fave Beatle is and always will be Ringo (suck it, Paul).

This was my view last Monday morning:

Yeah, another crappy 9 inches (of snow).  I had a snow day off work.  Spouse had begun to clear the driveway with the snowblower (heh heh heh, I said "blow").  At least the birds and squirrels had something to eat.  I am so fucking sick of winter (scream).

Then we had a new La-Z-Boy delivered:

As you can see, Nyla and her daddy LOVE the new chair.  In the second pix, the pattern comes from the sunlight passing through the window curtains; the chair itself is a plain fabric.

I just happened to catch Nyla in a sexy pose; she was giving herself a bath on the couch.  She had a well-kitty vet visit yesterday and got her rabies shot.  So proud of my girl!

We are still looking for a companion kitty; we are going to visit the shelter again today.

I have discovered I like chorizo sausage; I don't like any other kind of sausage.  I DO like man-sausage though (wink wink nudge nudge).  I am sure all y'all can relate! :-b

  1. Having a Latino spouse I love chorizo ... and that's all I'm saying about that!

But I do love Miss Nyla's sexy pose. Does she have an ad on Craig's List?

And shouldn't spouse have a red tee shirt on and not orange? The dear got his holidays mixed up! Much more love peace and snow jobs to you!!

  3. We got more snow too. Luckily we have a neighbor who has a snowblower and he does the whole neighborhood. We loves him!

    1. our snowblower is the shared community power equipment. our neighbors kick in for gas and they get to clear their driveways/sidewalks easily.

make the gnomes do the shoveling!

  4. I was six when Beatles were on Ed Sullivan. My sister and I were glued to the TV. I also remember watching Diana Ross and the Supremes on the Ed Sullivan show. I was mesmerized by the hair and dresses. That should have been a big clue to my parents that I was gay.

  5. My disappointment at your video being blocked for transmission here ("for copyright reasons") was more than made up for by those super-duper shots of the lovely Nyla, making the most of the latest addition to her list of "places where I can sleep". She so clearly loves her home comforts, bless her.

Btw: I only discovered something yesterday re cats that I'm amazed took me so long to find out - but which I'm sure you already know:-
Background: Our local 'community cat', Patchy, who's been virtually living here for some months now, suddenly started bringing his food up - five times in two days (on chair, settee, carpet), otherwise his behaviour was unchanged. I rang his owners yesterday evening (who have several more cats and are feline-savvy). The lady asked me "You're not giving him milk, are you?" Indeed, I had been - as I always have with them all. I was told that most cats, contrary to popular belief, are lactose-intolerant, and should not be given milk (unless it's specially prepared cat-milk) only water - and kittens, never (only from their mummies). Well, after a lifetime of cat-loving I didn't know that!
After consulting the web and, though there are varying opinions, the clear majority seem to agree with what I was told. Apparently cats are unable to deal with the natural sugar content in cow's milk. Goat's milk is a bit better, apparently, but only in small quantities. So now I know! I've not given Patchy any for 24 hours now and he's eaten several times without re-gurgitating it. Were you aware of this? I'm surprised it's not more widely known. Fingers crossed that that was all that was wrong, but looking pretty good so far.

Oh, Ringo was your fave Beatle? Really? The untalented one? But I suppose then you were only going on looks. I'd not stick my neck out and say which was the 'best' one, only that as a foursome they made a composite whole which has never been equalled, let alone surpassed. Although individually they have also come up with some beauties I don't think anything they did separately rivalled what they did together. But hey! - what do I know?

(Don't get lost in a snow-drift, will you? This side of the pond I'm starting to regret that I can't swim!)

    1. ok, the video is the "ed sullivan song" from the movie musical "bye bye birdie". that sux. :(

nyla does love us equally. she just finished her dinner and is taking a nap somewhere.

yep, cats should not be given cow's milk. I never have given any of my kids milk; it's water only.

ringo = drums. charlie watts = drums. phil collins = drums. max weinberg = drums. gene krupa = drums. see a pattern here? I gotta thing for drummers.

I have read stories/seen pix of the water problems the UK is having. meanwhile, the state of california is drought-stricken. WTF, mother nature?

    2. Cats and milk does surprise me! When Aunt Alma used to milk Bessie, the cats would come running, and she always gave them some. I do not remember them throwing up. Some of my friends' cats have thrown up hairballs, but never after drinking milk that I know of.

    3. could be that your aunt gave the kitties non-hormone-tainted milk. I don't trust what comes from a cow these days.

    4. I'm not surprised that you'd be 'au fait' with what and what not one can do with pussies, A.M. It's a good job that until I moved to this address in 2000 I'd never had a pet of any description in my life - apart from the family cat(s) when I was a kid, when we did freely give them milk - otherwise I'd have been making many of them throw up, or even worse.
Now 36 hours since I stopped giving Patchy cow's milk - and he's still right as rain, though he does keep looking to see if I've poured out milk for him. It's strange that they love something so much that is harmful to them. I'd reckon that there's an awful lot of cat owners and cat lovers who also aren't aware of what I've only just discovered.

Drums? - So that explains your posting of that Phil Collins track some weeks ago. Now all is clear. You were just wanting to get your rocks off! ;-)

We're experiencing what's being called a 'conveyor belt' of storms coming crossing the Atlantic here - and I've never experienced anything like it in my life. What starts as your own Arctic storms with all its related snowdrifting etc, they come over here, warming up on the way, and precipitating as none of us have experienced. They say it's now been the wettest winter for over 270 years. However, at least it's unseasonably mild (as though that's any consolation) - but the gale-ish have a chilly edge to them. But still, given a choice between ours and yours I'd still rather have ours, but only by a tiny bit, and the gap is closing. (You may have heard that a member of one our more fringe political parties said that what we're experiencing was God's wrath about the government's approval of gay marriage - he only to be promptly ousted from that party, though it does still contain the more 'lunatic' (usually anti-foreigner) elements.)

    5. I have seen some pix of the UK flooding; horrible stuff. :(

so your country has some of the same freaks we do, eh? perhaps we should ship them all to the moon!

  6. I know this winter has been horrible and unusually long, but at least you are all comfy at home. Love the new Lazy-boy and poses.
The LA Times has a very good Op-Ed piece today, about what critics had to say about the Beatles in 1964. It is very funny actually. John Lennon was my favorite, probably because my favorite Beatles songs were all written by him.

  8. Yes, giving milk to the cats directly from the cow was over 50 years ago and Bessie certainly received no hormones.
