As in this video, but for rather different reasons, we are sweltering too here - though with temps due to nudge down to a more acceptable low 70s in the next few days, which will give us much-needed relief. I suppose you are also baking? (in a non-cuisine sense)

Now this weeks' video treat is an interesting one. I hadn't realised (or had forgotten) that the record holds the joint runner-up place for longest stay at the top of your Billboard charts - all of TEN weeks - beaten only by E.P.'s 'Hound Dog'.
And where did it reach in our country? It peaked at #7. Gosh!
I see that the record was banned by a number of radio stations (thus guaranteeing its success), though not for the accompanying video's sub-text (not very 'sub' at all, in fact) but for the raunchy innuendo of the lyrics, which is as mild as tonic water these days.
Those guys at the end of the video really had what it takes facially (not too keen on pumped on bodies, though). Very 70/80s looks, but 'hot' with it.

Now I've got to keep my eye on what's happening out of the window. Blackso's just gone out - and chances are that very soon I'll be checking under cars in my 'doggy position' on the pavement again. Oh, the things I have to do to keep him safe! Only wish he knew it.

    Byeeeeee!

    1. Oh, before I trotted out all those oh-so-clever stats I should have checked on the publication date of my 'bible' on the subject. !985! So I dare say that what I said has been well overtaken by now.

    2. actually, this week the air conditioner has been off/windows have been open due to the mild temperatures. but I had to turn the air on last evening as the humidity crept higher and made breathing/sleeping difficult.

what happens if you do not let blackso out?

speaking of tonic water, I hear some gin calling my name...

    3. and speaking of baking, there will be a loaf of seeded rye bread being baked tomorrow for our weekly eating pleasure.

    4. I could never contemplate locking Blackso or Noodles inside - and if I did there'd bound to be a gang of my furry regulars outside waiting for my re-appearance, broadcasting my 'hospitality' to all houses around, which could well be awkward for me. (I seem to think we've had this conversation before.)

It's getting fresher now, and very welcome it is too.
      Enjoy your rye bread!

    1. I NEVER thought I would like going to a gym and lifting/pushing weights. but the difference it's made on my back and knees (arthritis) and the rest of me is outstanding.

I will never look like ONJ in this video, but I am proud of me!

  6. On our recent road trip to New Orleans for Jr.'s Regional competition, I compiled an 80's & 90's playlist. Some of Olivia's greatest hits were included... Physical, of course was in there. I remember how controversial this song was when it was first released. It's a nursery rhyme compared to some of the stuff out there now. UGH... I sound like an old fogey. ;-)

    I hope you're having a FABULOUS weekend!

    1. yeah, and people in the 50s thought "wake up little susie" was controversial, the 60s had "brand new key", the 70s had "afternoon delight"...every decade there is another bunch of prudes.

doing normal chores and errands this weekend; it's turned humid again, so the air conditioner is back on. hard to breathe out there. currently drinking. :)
