The Lake Front Hotel; a quiet respite from daily cares.
AND the front desk clerk was cute and gay!

The Glimmerglass Queen tour boat.
Otsego Lake; the Susquehanna River begins its 444 mile march to the Chesapeake Bay right here.
Betcha John can relate to these scenes!
So many different ducks and swans and geese in the mill pond!
One of the "go go boyz"!
The tons of apples in those crates will be made into cider this week.

This "castle" belongs to a private club; it can only be seen from the lake by boat.
Otsego Lake scenes.
The REAL reason we went to Cooperstown, NY - the wine!
Reds, whites, roses, rieslings; 3 cases followed us home!
And so did some food - cheese, pickles, BBQ sauce, honey mustard dip.
Outside my house, the sedum has bloomed.
And the peppers are still turning red/orange.
I was gonna Google because i have no idea except that it's lovely, and looks very peaceful.
ReplyDeleteOkay ... I Googled, but I'll keep it to myself.
thank you for not spoiling the party, bob!
Deletethe "go go boy" is indeed the spouse; go check out his new post!
A lake. Somewhere in the Eastern part of the USA. ;-)
ReplyDeleteding-ding-ding, good guess! correct-o-mundo, TDM!
DeleteOh I know where you were.......but I ain't tellin'!
ReplyDeleteI bet y'all passed right by where I live too and ya didn't stop?!? sniff sniff
XXX is one place Hubs and I haven't gone yet in XXXX.
yeah, we did pass by W-B, and we DID yell HI SLUGGY. time was tight on this trip; spouse has to study for a professional exam he's taking on monday.
Deleteyou have an advantage over us - you are 2 hours closer to cooperstown.
Well I might not have known, had it not been for the Glimmerglass queen. I was there with my family years ago, can't remember the town, but its in New York,no? I am loving those rockers in front of the lodge!!! Were they for sale?
ReplyDeleteyep, I <3 NY! (breaks into song) cooperstown, specifically. also hyde park.
Deletenot sure about the rockers; you can always ask!
Oh, and I see the go go boy is still there, you must have made it rain quite well for him to still be with you the next day!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletehoney, we had cock-a-tails with dinner and a long day. we were passed out by 9p.
DeleteMy guess is also upstate Pennsylvania or New York State; both have lovely bodies of water with abundant water fowl, apple trees, mountains, foliage, etc.
ReplyDeleteThat go-go boy is smokin' hot! :-) Reminds me of guy with whom I went to college, one of few guys with whom I did NOT have sex...
Janey xo
cooperstown NY. your BFF was in a playful mood at the mill, where it was cloudy and windy and cool.
DeleteWhat a handsome go-go boy!
ReplyDeletewant to ask him to dance?
DeleteGirlfriend: I am quite certain (as certain as one can be from a single photo) that your blooming plants are Sedum 'Autumn Joy', not Salvias.
ReplyDeletewell beat me with an ugly stick; I would NEVER question your plant proclivities. I go feex.
DeleteThank you, Honey! :-)
ReplyDeleteMWAH!
DeleteTerrific pics. Looks like a great but all-too-short trip
ReplyDeletethank you, darling! I wish we had more time to take, but life dictates otherwise. oh well, there IS all that wine to drink to drown our sorrows...
DeleteI have no clue where you went (my mind is stagnating - - I've been in Texas too long). The photos are very intriguing - - and I love that castle.
ReplyDeleteHugs to Miss Oreo.
cooperstown NY is one hour west of albany. it's home to the baseball hall of fame, which is wicked cool but we have been there several times. we went strictly for the wine.
DeleteI have no idea... but I'm waiting for my invite to the wine tasting party. CHEERS!!!
ReplyDeletewell git yer lil arse up to philly, darlin'! :)
DeleteI once lived on the Susquehanna, right where it crosses the NY-PA border (the western most of the three crossings) where the Chemung river joins it. Glad you're enjoying the wine!
ReplyDeleteNY is so pretty; the trees are just starting to turn colors. in 3 weeks, they will peak. cooperstown is quiet except for the last week in july (hall of fame inductions).
DeleteAnd all the while I thought you'd gone to 4Xs. Silly me!
ReplyDeleteI hope the three little ones have forgiven you for taking your jollies while so casually 'neglecting' them. But as for the rest of us, it's clear that you had a little excursion to you were due and which will have done you no end of good - not least in having loaded yourself up to return with all that plonk! Some merry evenings ahead, then.
the pussies were clingy saturday night/sunday morning. then it's back to their old routine.
Deleteall that wine will last over a year, plus we give some away as holiday gifts.
Glimmerglass Queen, what a great name. I'd a had to ride on that beauty. It was a great weekend to get out if town wasn't it?
ReplyDelete"glimmerglass" is another name for lake otsego; when it is calm, it reminds people of glass. but we had choppy conditions on Saturday.
Deleteand yeah, a weekend escape is nice.
Should have guessed since I go to the Glimmerglass Opera every year. Did you not treat yourself to brunch at The Otesaga? Envy you the goodies you brought home. Feel like driving up just for those. Love Miss Oreo.
ReplyDeletewell, hello anonymous! don't be afraid to use your real name; we are all friends here. intolerance is NOT welcome.
Deletea free breakfast came with my lake front hotel stay; the otesaga resort hotel is waaay outta my budget.
and the reason we drove up there was for all the goodies we brought home!
miss oreo says "MEOW and thank you!"
I've not been to Otsego Lake, but I know where it is - almost smack dab in between the Finger Lakes and Adirondack Park, probably formed by the same glaciers. Looks like a great trip!
ReplyDeletePeace <3
Jay
it IS, dear! the baseball hall of fame is the main industry in town, but there are museums and wineries and breweries to visit. and when the leaves turn, OH MY! such color!
DeleteSounds like you had a great trip. You deserve it!
ReplyDeleteoh we DID, honey! hope you write about yours to NM soon!
DeleteWhat a wonderful trip.
ReplyDeleteThe place is very beautiful indeed!
I loved the ducks and the cat too ..
I want to meet so many places like this when I travel!
we have many places like this in the USA.
DeleteI like a nice weekend getaway.
ReplyDeleteyeah; we cannot afford to do it too often though. :(
