Oh no you didn't!!! I loved this song! I was just out, please, was I ever really in??? Anyho, this song reminds me of my first gay summer being out on the club scene, where I met my first guy from Brazil. We have a romance, ok, hot sex all summer till he had to go back home. Hence where my love of Brazilians came from, and my love of UB40 and red wine, and boys of South America. I can't hear the song with getting hot! Excuse me, while I get under the covers to enjoy this feeling! Have a good weekend dear.
M'ning A.M. Reason my being late in your 'visitors book' today - computer became near-inoperable first thing this morning (i.e. about 8 hours ago for me) so bit the bullet and purchased a computer cleaner for £40 (2 years sub) - about $70, and after running it so far it seems to be working, fingers crossed. But one of the former problems is still here so don't know if it'll hold up and for how long. But at the moment things look better. Anyway, enough of that for now.
When this record got to our #1 in 1983 (also a chart-topper in 'Billboard', I see) I didn't know then who the composer was. Like G.B. above I was also surprised when I found out and then liked the original of N.D. singing it.
Better rush off now and check out other blogs that are coming in and comment while I can.
Hope all is well with you, with RTG and the you-know-whos. All fine-ish here. There's a chance our Summer may start for real towards end of next week. Whoopee!!!
hopefully whatever you purchased will make your poor computer alllll better.
it's been uncomfortably hot here the past few days. spouse got his pool filled and he has been able to swim in in already. the pussy girls are well; miss gigi has started waking me up in the morning with plenty of head rubs.
Any improvement in the computer that there was, A.M., was annoyingly short-lived. After doling out money I could ill afford it's back to all its usual tricks this morning - and I'm as near to despair as dammit. The honest truth is that I need an entire new up-to-date computer, but unless I have an unexpected windfall it's not going to be. So can only trundle along as before - Grrrrrr!
But while I still can wish you, do have a fine Sunday - and week to follow.
P.S. My own Blackso also used to wake me up with head rubs, as well as licking ,my eyelids to open them. But he's now started a new fad - actually biting and clawing at my face and scalp. It takes all my patience at that time of the morning (often in the night) to stop myself from giving him a thump! But he's now got so old, the dear, that I just dare not hurt him, though he can pick up when I'm not happy with his antics - which he promptly forgets the next night!.
Good morning, and I'd be thinking of another activity other than drinking when hearing this song. Something more appropriate at 4:20. ;-)
I'm trying to enjoy my weekend, but my neighbors across the way were speaking way too loudly up until 2am. Maybe if I'm lucky they're moving out this weekend since it's the end of the month.
hello my darling; it's now 7:30p, my baseball team has lost yet again, and I had a busy day drinking/eating crabs/partying with a knitting buddy. smooches! :)
I quite like this song, thanks for reminding me of it.
And thanks for the travel link, there seems to be quite a few folks who have taken to the road as a permanent lifestyle. After reading thru some of the link you sent me, I googled and found masses of folks doing the same thing.
Love this song - and my cousin Marie from Birmingham was actually friends with the band's saxophonist, Brian..........! Don't even know where the same cousin is herself these days, mind you!

ReplyDeleteoh yes I did! enjoy your excitement, topped off with a cold G&T!
DeleteI'm going to imagine your butt shaking to this reggae tune. Difficult to believe that the song was written by Neil Diamond of all people!
ReplyDeleteI KNOW! neil runs the spectrum of total pop schlock to thinking poems.
