Saturday Night Dance Party!
This is how I am feeling right now. Dance like no one's watching. Sing like no one's listening. "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me" - for JP and Guido on their wedding day, July 4, 2016! PS - HAPPYBIRTHDAY to Dr. Spo!
G'day, A.M., You give us a wondrous classic this week, which lifts my spirits as our waiting for Summer's arrival goes on.....and on. I sit here in sweatshirt and jog-pants, with fleeces at hand should I care to venture outside - a very long way from tee and shorts season. This time last year we were basking in record temps, mid and even upper nineties. Today we're thirty degrees or more below that. Meantime, I suppose you and yours and drenched in perspiration?
This George and Aretha song, which reached the top in both U.K. and U.S.A. for two weeks in both countries in early '87, has so many associations for me - specifically Amsterdam when I treated a German friend to a week in that city which he'd never been to, for a week at my expense. Although we had a good time, I could feel that our close proximity for several days uninterrupted was fraying out friendship - and so it turned out when, the following year, I told him outright that it wasn't a good idea that we continued our association. Anyway, that's all water under the bridge now. It's still a jolly good song though, one of my very favourites of the 80s.
Was supposed to be on my annual visit to sis on Monday, but concern for my 'children' has decided me to cancel - nothing more serious than their general ageing, I think, but it would have been a cruelty too far to have them them caged up in a strange place to add to their present discomforts, at least until I can see how things are developing.
Are you and the little uns healthy and happy? I do hope so. We haven't heard anything from the Trump for a few days now. As it would be so unlike him not to have anything to say (and without putting his foot in it) I assume he must have ended, for now, favouring these isles with his visit. I dare see he'll make his presence known before long no matter wherever on the globe he happens to be.
I send my earnest congratulations to JP and Guido for their big day on Monday - as well as to our universally esteemed Dr Spo - early wishes for next Thurs.
Have yourself a super-douper w/e, all right? Byeeeeeee!
yesterday and today are just FABULOUS! high 70s F, no humidity, turn off the air conditioner and leave the windows open weather. fleece in july? oh my!
I know blackso has been having difficulties as he ages; is noodles now exhibiting some signs of illness? my neighbours just returned from a week at the beach; I was their "cat sitter" during their adventures.
all is well here at my casa, for humans and pussies alike.
holiday weekend in progress here; no work tomorrow; our country turns 240 years old, a mere trifle compared to london or paris or rome. and of course it all began RIGHT HERE in philly YO! :)
Thanks for your thanks, J.P. but tomorrow is YOUR day of course - and don't let anyone in the world (or anywhere else) spoil it for you. Hugs galore to you and yours. XXXX.
A.M., Noodles just brings up his food about once a day, nothing more than that. In all other respects he's seems as healthy as ever - ever demanding (for MORE food!) and lively. If there were other signs I'd take him to the vet but I suppose I'm also afraid of a diagnosis that I can't cope with. He's still keeping most of his food down, but I'm keeping an eye on him.
Oh, for a taste of your weather! There is a forecast that we may hit the dizzy heights of 70 mid-week but then - guess what? - it cools down again. nature's gone mad. I blame it all on Brexit.
Do enjoy the rest of your hol w/e - as I'm sure you will - and keep the fridge door open for the kitties.
I love George Michael bur was never a huge fan of Aretha Franklin. Not sure why. But now just, getting ready for the fourth of July holiday. I don't know about you Miss Kitty, buy id love to be a fly on the wall at Jean Paul and Guido's wedding. Can you just see the antics and quagmire going on?!?!? I just bet it comical.
I never knew George Michael did a duet with Aretha Franklin. His voice sounds boyish alongside hers. Do you think Aretha would beat him in an arm-wrestling content?
AM - what a lovely thought, and how did you know it was one of my favourites? I am pleased to report that Guido and I danced very energetically to this last night just before lights out. Well, when I say danced what I really mean is mimed energetically. I think it might have been all that sangria. Naturally I was Aretha. JP xx
I think George Michael was waiting in a men's public bathroom in West Hollywood -- not that there's anything wrong with that!
ReplyDeletebwhahahahahaha! :)

for my girls, I avoid anything with turkey in it; too rich for their tummies.
DeleteI did some grocery shopping and laundry today whilst spouse did some yard work. later this afternoon we will have a cookout with our neighbor.
Good morning! I'm wide awake after a brisk walk first thing in the morning. The heat wave is over, and I'm finally enjoying mid-80s weather again.

Good Morning sweetie! Have a wonderful long weekend, you should have gone to the wedding, only 8 hours from Philly to Heathrow.
ReplyDeletewell, 2 drawbacks there...(1) I don't fly and (2) I wasn't invited.
DeleteNobody has a voice like Aretha. Thanks for a great start to my weekend. RJJS
ReplyDeleteI'm not much a fan of either of them separately, but togtehr they rocked it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I cannot wait to read of the Nuptials on JP's space! I bet it's fabulous!
No pressure! I'll be going into recovery immediately after but watch that space.
