  2. I remember where I was and what I was doing, when I heard that Elvis was dead. Odd thing for me to remember.

    1. I was standing on the midway of the West Virginia state fair. They shut down all the rides and announced it over the loudspeaker. That night Billy Crash Craddock opened with Blue Suede Shoes over in the grandstand.

    2. I had just gotten home from work (living in my first apartment in NJ), turned on the tv, and this was the news of the day. can't say I was mourning EP as I did for john lennon.

  3. A more Smoldering Elvis than Last Days Elvis.

I keep reading about the small victories we are winning--as in Illinois--and hope that bodes well going forward.

We have a special election here next month to replace Mick Mulvaney, who joined Hair Furor's team, and it might go Blue this time!

    Fingers crossed.

  6. Happy Tax March Day! I'm still somewhat recovering from a sore throat, so I'm staying home. I'll be there in spirit, though.

Seeing this version of Elvis pleases me greatly. I mostly remember the bloated Vegas version, as that was one of my first memories of him in the mid-70s.

  9. I like just about every song Elvis sang. I love the ballads the most, and my favorite is Don't Cry Daddy. That one always brought me to tears (okay, I was a kid at the time). My eldest son was born on Elvis' birthday the year he died.
    Enjoy your weekend.

    1. Back for a second 'Hi there!' but nothing new and really further to say - 'cept it's got mighty cool now making me thinking of switching on the heating again which we'd hoped would be off for the year. Are you doing better?

Noodles still causing concern, not just for his inability in jumping up but he's doing his business of both kinds in random all over the place. Got a lot of the carpeted floors covered in cut-up black plastic rubbish bags, but he even goes on the stairs sometimes. I dare not contemplate the unthinkable, which even taking him to the vet may have to make me face up to. But aside from his physical weakness, when he settles he seems comfortable and gets all purry lovey-dovey when I sit beside him. Heartbreaking it is.

Meanwhile you have your own issues, of course - and of an entirely different nature I trust. Must say it's a very long time, if ever - and certainly not since the early 60s - since I woke up and nervously switch on the news wondering if WWIII has started. And we're still only within the first 100 days?
      However, if I can dream.......
      See ya!

    2. it's been an expensive, distressing weekend. oreo was ill and had to spend 2 days in hospital; she is back home and doing much better. then I discovered my water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced. then my furnace died and needed a fix; still need some heat on overnight. $3000 later...all is well.

today is a wonderful day; the sun is out, the windows are open, the occupants of this house are sleeping (not me), and it's back to work tomorrow for the humans.

snorgles to all, and extra strokes for noodles and blackso.

    3. Your situation makes me realise how fortunate I am, but it's all relative.
Poor Oreo. I feel for her so badly. Thank goodness she's improved - though not so your bank account - Yikes!

I'll tell Blackso and Noodles of your good wishes and strokes - as well as Patchie, sleeping here on the settee with Noodles, having shoved me off it.
Regards to you, your other half - and the three li'l uns.
