Saturday Night Protest Party!

This is how I am feeling right now.

Dance like no one's watching.

Sing like no one's listening.

"Stand" - for the things that you know are right!  Stand with the high school students as they stare down the NRA and the GOPricks!  https://www.marchforourlives.com/donate

RESIST, INSIST, PERSIST, ENLIST! (thank you Hillary!)

ORGANIZE!  MOBILIZE!  TAKE A KNEE!  RAISE A FIST!

CALL OUT THE H8!  EVERYWHERE!  RIGHT FUCKING NOW!

PS - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Spo & Someone!

  1. When I saw the title of the song, I thought it was going to be the one by R.E.M.(which I love). This was a pleasant surprise. I adore Sly and the Family Stone, just as long as I don't have to look at them :) This is one of my favorite songs by them. So understated, yet says so much.

    1. nope, the R.E.M. song doesn't fit in right now. STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS!

    2. You are right, Carebear. I looked up the lyrics, and that R.E.M. song doesn't fit anywhere! It's like some poetry that you like the sound of but have no idea what it means. I was just going by the title :)

    6. "We're gonna tear the roof off the sucka! Tear the roof of the muthasucka!" It's a good thing my Ed Ames cds came today, or I'd be all hyped up on this song! Thanks for playing with me, Carebear. I needed it :)

  2. SO good! I loved and love this song. I had a friend who used to always TRY to see Sly (and the Family Stone). She said he could never be counted on to show up but he was still worth trying. "Things to go through if you're going anywhere."

  5. Good morning! I'm standing with all of these students. We had our first school shooting involving a rifle in 1979 where I live. That's right. 1979. Enough is enough!

  6. Greetings from an 'orribly bitingly cold Europe, W.Q., where we will shortly be overwhelmed by the 'Beast from the East', even colder air and winds from northern Siberia and the N Pole, giving us our most freezing spell for years - which is going to last until next weekend or even longer. It's already killed off the early daffs and more, and is sure to take away a number of people as well. I blame Donnie's boyfriend, the Putin of course.
I trust you won't be suffering at least in the same way, but maybe in others.
Have, all of you, a pleasantly warm w/e.

    1. holy shitsnax! that IS bad! here it's been raining for 4 days; the mud is disgusting; the cold damp temps are bothering my asthma & arthritis. same for RTG.

but there is BASEBALL on the radio from florida this weekend; it makes my heart and soul sing.

and the kids (and robert mueller) are still leading the way against all that is wrong with murrica right now.

cats are currently napping, RTG is doing chores, laundry loads are in the washer/dryer, jazz is on the radio to be followed by baseball. I saw one purple crocus yesterday.

smooches to you and patchie; stay warm and safe.

    2. We SHALL survive, W.Q. - as you will. Current forecast is that it should have blown over by this w/e. Meanwhile, I can tell you that Patchie does NOT like it one bit. Nonetheless, teeth-chattering greetings to you and all the others.

    3. I have snowdrops today! the flowers, not the white stuff. I actually saw the sun today too!

have patchie snuggle close to you. you two furries keep each other warm.

    4. For over a week now I've been getting up between 1 and 2 (mornings) to let Patchie out through window - and waiting for him to want to come back in. Goodness knows how he can stay out for an hour or even two in temps well below freezing - not a choice I would make when there IS a choice! A 'six degrees below' is forecast for tonight - and a nearly-as-cold for tomorrow night - then, it may, just MAY, start creeping up for both day and night. If that's the way it turns out, then with that light at the end of this long, dark tunnel - PRAISE BE!

    5. eeeeeek! my girls wanna go out on the unheated sunporch in the coldest weather too. as RTG says, they have fur coats. and I saw my first robin this morning! spring is almost here!

    6. I've been watching the NY temps every morning - and I'm as green with envy for your regions as a Mar-a-lago golf course. And it seems we've got global warming to thank (yes! - no surprise there, then) - the Arctic is melting at an accelerated pace sending the prevailing upper atmosphere jets into confusion - so goodness knows what parts of the world will next feel horrible effects like we're going through. Looks like our unhappy experince is most unlikely to be a one-off. The future is happening right before our eyes - only an idiot could deny it - and it's almost certainly too late now to do anything about it. Sad! (as someone might say.)

    7. but but but our federal guvmint idiots and their followers say the earth is flat and there is no climate change. YEAH RIGHT! we are expecting a snowstorm on friday. yay - NOT!
