In Celebration of Black History Month (Part 3)

To celebrate Black History Month, I am going to feature great Black singers, dancers, actors who have stood the tests of time and the civil rights struggles they endured.

PS - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY (February 22) to Spo & Someone

Because Jimmy asked so nicely for Cleo Laine.

  4. Cleo Laine, still with us at 93. She's been around for much longer than my entire life, and has always been uniquely herself with no compromises. A true star.
Saw her live only once, some 30 years when she appeared as narrator in a performance at the Royal Albert Hall of Ben Britten's 'Noyes' Flood' - a jolly piece.

And you too have a jolly w/e, W.Q.

  6. There was a 'nightclub' in Lebanon, PA called Pushnik's that supposedly had mob connections, and it was not unusual for Count Basie to so play there.

  12. OMG Anne Marie! Such a fantastic playlist! So many I didn't even know were the original singers! Funny how some of these tunes got literally whitewashed.

    XOXO
