The Lost Weekend

So Friday I went from Philly to DC to see these guys.

Here's what they look like, in case you have forgotten, or have been living under a rock or something:

After they picked me up at a local metro station (see Blobby, we know the correct term), we went out for lunch, then came back and crashed at their apartment for several hours.  We had Chinese food for dinner.  Cubby made a pound cake all by himself (using my recipe):

and we topped it with fresh strawberries for dessert.  We also consumed cosmos and watched "Polyester"; OMFG, the acting (if you can call it that), the storyline, the "scratch-n-sniff" card - campy fun!  RIP, Divine!  It was late in the evening when they drove me to my hotel (aka the sooper seekret bunker).

Saturday - off to the gayborhood!  (sings it's a beautiful day in the gayborhood, a beautiful day for a gaybor...).  Brunch and bookstores and embassy architecture perusing.  There may or may not have been some gawking at hawt menz.  Unfortunately, I didn't see anything I liked.  Then a trip on the metro to Eastern Market, a combo farmers/flea market and bazaar.  Greg purchased some handmade peppermint soap.  Cubby decided he would cook dinner for us, so off to the supermarket and liquor store before returning to their apartment.  Cubby has the incriminating evidence of how drunk we were on cosmos.  Greg, bless his heart, remained sober so that he could drive me back to the bunker.  Oh yeah, and we drunk-called Kelly and Sassybear.

Today was go home day for me, so I bought the boys a good breakfast.  They accompanied me to the Amtrak train station, then left me to the wolves to go exploring the monuments (Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR, MLK).

I had a wonderful time with Cubby and Greg!  Thank for the memories!  Smooches!

I Get Around

Where I have been in my 58 years:

USA Map Linky

Canada - last visit 2005

France, Italy, Switzerland, England - only visit 1970

The Progressive (read: Democratic) Convention

After the Haters Club meeting of last week,

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Yeah Man!

Bubba sure got the crowd movin' and groovin' last night!  20 years after spouse and I first saw him in Chicago, Bill Clinton can still make my motor run!  NOTE: we were on our honeymoon and the candidates were making a stump stop in Chi-town.

And talk about inclusive!  Women!  Hispanics!  African Americans!  Gays!  Asians!  Regular middle-class people!  Compared to last week's lying KKK turnout...

Tonight is the big speech.  Shall we give Barack another 4 years?  HELL YEAH!  FORWARD!

It's Mah Birfday!

Contrary to what some people believe (yes, I am looking at YOU, Janey; smooches!), today is my 58th birfday.  It was Labor Day 1954; my egg donor labored and gave birth to me at 10:30a, 6.5 pounds.  Oy, WTF happened?  :)

So what am I doing to celebrate?

Well, I took the day off work.  A load of laundry is in the washer, a load of dishes is in the dishwasher.  I am showered but not fully dressed yet.  I have to run to the bank and to the grocery store.  I have my gym appointment tonight at 5p, where I get a free post-workout smoothie (FUCK YEAH!).  I had my nails done in royal purple yesterday.  I have some insurance policies to look over.  There will be knitting and reading, but no baseball (Phillies have the day off, dammit).

The cats and the spouse gave me gifts (t-shirt, music cd, gift card).  There will be southern BBQ tonight for dinner, courtesy of our local q joint in da hood (most excellent BTW; q joint linky) and the spouse's paycheck.

Yeah, just a typical day.

So, the first pix when the video starts...all 4 of them IN MAH BED RIGHT FUCKING NAOW!

A girl can dream, can't she?  My fave Beatle is Ringo; what can I say, I have a thing for drummers.  And if they have a British accent and are hairy, (swoon).

Let the luv begin!
