In Celebration of Black History Month (Part 4)
To
celebrate Black History Month, I am ending with a great Black leader's speech which has stood the test of time and the civil
rights struggle he endured.
Martin, your dream has not been fulfilled yet (dammit).
Sometimes, I wonder if we've really made any progress at all since I was born. In just today's news, I found out the CPAC stage is a Nazi rune, and I'm seeing videos of elder Asians getting assaulted for no valid reason.
Hi, hon. Missed this in my feed. My bad. Thanks for sharing this. It is hard to believe that this country has still not come to terms with the horrors committed in the name of profit. An economic system that never should have existed had people lived their lives with a moral compass continues to haunt this country to this day. It's way past time to make it right. MLK was polite about it. We are past the point of politeness. Dems in power better address this wrong and move this country in the right direction.
We haven't achieved the dream but we are still fighting for it. I didn't think it would still be this hard in 2021 but we will keep fighting the good fight. Take care, anne marie in philly.
It's incredible how so very prescient his speech was. And it's incredibly sad to see how needed it is right now. Steering the country away from white supremacists is going to be be a herculean task.
Still so much work to do.
ReplyDeleteThe most memorable speech of my lifetime.
ReplyDeleteWhat a man! RJJS
ReplyDeleteA truly great, inspirational speech.
ReplyDeleteThat is a GREAT speech....but I unfortunately don't ever see that becoming fulfilled.
ReplyDeleteI have always found his speech simply amazing.

ReplyDeleteWe know the dream hasn't been achieved because we need #BlackLivesMatter.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
From a man of blessed memory, it echoes down the ages and will forever more - and all achieved with no 'twitter'.
ReplyDeleteNo one is truly free, until everyone is free.
