Saturday Night Dance Party!

This is how I am feeling right now.

Dance like no one's watching.

Sing like no one's listening.

"Let's Go Dancing" - c'mon, you KNOW you wanna!

Only 258 days til...(you know what!)

  3. Had to postpone playing this until a radio prog was over. Every Sat aftie we get the pop charts from two past years, and this week it was 1970 & 84. The latter was part of the happiest few years of my life - 'sunshine' years before the clouds gathered and the storm broke. Records included Laura Brannigan's 'Self Control' (Remember that? Marvellous!), Prince's 'When Doves Cry' and Frankie's 'Two Tribes' as well as the unequalled 'Relax'. Oh, what wonderful days! - AND, being the BBC, there are NO commercials!

But I've now played 'Kool', limping and hopping around the floor as much as I could manage - my former foot problem, which never really went away, is again as bad as ever. But please DON'T feel sorry for me - I'll never forgive myself if I knew that you did. (Tee hee!)

    2. Points accepted with thanks, A.M. .

After '84? I didn't mean to be cryptic but I was really referring to the thing that came along and bowled some of us over like skittles, while we lucky, surviving few tottered and got more lonely almost by the month. (In other words, the Big 'A')

But also, coincidentally, the mid-late 80s was also the time I had most money - having a lucrative senior post, I could afford to fly off to various parts of Europe about 20 times a year just for 'fun-breaks', long week-ends and the like. I could do virtually anything I wanted, within reason.
And here I am, over two decades later, a completely different, humbled creature, still waiting and hoping for those days to return. Ah, poor me! ;-)

    4. Yup, it's something that's hardly ever in the news now - partly thanks to medical advancement, which is a huge positive, though it's still powerful enough to leave lots of tragedy in its wake.
Anyway, 'nuff of that - let's get back to dancing!

  6. I love "Kool and the Gang". They came on DWTS 2 or 3 years ago. Nice guys! I love "get down on it".

  8. My mind must be failing with age. I certainly remember Kool & The Gang but this song is brand new to me. Guess I wasn't clubbing at the time. Great song.
