Things That Suck For $1000, Alex

1.  My baseball team finished in 4th place at 73-89.  Congrats to all the other teams (EVEN CLEVELAND!) headed to the playoffs.  Just wait til next year!  I am now going into hibernation til mid-February (sports-wise, that is).

2.  I was hacking my lungs out this morning, so spouse suggested going to the brand-new urgent care neighborhood clinic.  Had a breath test, chest x-ray, and EKG.  Diagnosis - walking pneumonia.  Shit.  Have 2 drugs to take over a 10-day course.  AND I gotta see my primary care MD this week for a follow-up.  Cost for all this?  $20.  Currently sitting on the couch under a comforter cause I am freezing.  UPDATE: spouse went to the clinic today; three guesses as to his diagnosis.  yep, he's on the same meds as me.  BOTH of us have pneumonia.  FML

3.  AND I fucking have to go to work tomorrow - end of month & quarter.  This thought blows goats.  UPDATE: I called out sick.  No energy, no sleep, pounding headache, no appetite.

4.  It was a nice day today; too bad I could not go outside and enjoy it.

5.  The US Congress.  Fuck them all.

6.  I have no mojo to do anything - laundry, knitting, reading, baking.  I DID make a quiche for breakfast this morning though.

7.  Winter holiday ads/catalogs/promotions.  FOADIAFF.

8.  No appetite for food, other than the quiche and cawfee I had for breakfast.  And my boyfriends KNOW I like to eat!

9.  The days are getting shorter and shorter; by 7p it's dark.  This also blows goats.

10.  Spending $1000 on my car to pass inspection/get it through the winter months.

  3. when life blows goats, it always gives me a wee bit of perspective shift for the times when it blows candy rainbows. blowing goats is no fun, but no fun from time to time makes fun more fun. be well soon!

  4. 1. So sorry. My Little League team did not win the Little League World Series, so I am sad, too, and back in hibernation until next summer when the best baseball on the planet returns to ESPN!
    2. UGH!!! That sucks (or blows). I do hope you feel better quickly!
    3. I have to work tomorrow. That blows goats whether I'm sick or well, though I will say the last couple of weeks have been more or less OK. Please only cough or sneeze on those whom you hate at work.
    4. HAHAHAHA! Yesterday: outside all day for Pride, on my feet for 9 hours. Today: slept til noon, showered, interneted, had "breakfast" at Dennys, then grocery shopping and gas...then more interneting. HAHAHAHA I still hurt.
    5. Yeah. 'nuff said.
    6. Did Dennys for breakfast, fried catfish for dinner!
    7. Well, yeah, it is 4 weeks before Halloween, so why not? It gives my trash collectors something to do at my house.
    8. Yeah, I had two meals today. I will become skinny at this rate!
    9. I HATE SHORT DAYS!!! ARGH!!!!
    10. I feel for you. I did the $814 thing in May, following $350 to fix the drive shaft, and then $140 for oil change/maintenance/fix this and that. I gotcha, lady friend!

    Hope it all gets better!
    Peace <3

  5. I'm sorry you're not feeling well, sweetie! I hope you get better soon.

But I must say that I laughed all the way through your 'things that suck' list. You have such a colourful way of expressing yourself! lol

    1. thank you, buddybear. what sux is that I have not gotten my flu shot yet. they won't give it to me with this condition.

my knitting friends and I always use the "blows goats" phrase when something is really horrible. and some of it just comes from being a philadelphian.

  6. Feel better and don't be a heroine. I had regular pneumonia (which was supposed to be worse) several times in my 20's but when I had Walking P I just wanted to die - I watched really depressing movies where even one died!

    1. thanks, lovey. I don't wanna die, but the chest pressure after a long coughing spell is rough.

  8. OMG - what a nasty turn!. I'm referring to #s 2,3,6,8,9 & 10 - and you can throw in #5 too. But most concern for #2. It makes asking for good news redundant. I hope you can get over this one quickly as it's bound to affect your attitude towards all the others. Do what the 'professionals' advise - and do take good care of yourself. Hoping your next blog will tell of improvement H-U-G-E.

    2. This is even more serious than I thought. Nasty, NASTY business! Have to see if I can wing some positive vibes westward with speed.

    3. oh, that would be appreciated, lovey. still tired, no appetite. but not as cold as I was yesterday and the hard painful coughing has slowed somewhat. one day at a time, dear.

    4. I was thinking about you in my bed, last night, A.M. ;-) and wondering how you were. I see you've only a few mins ago looked at my 'hot-of-the-press' review of 'Blue Jasmine' so that must mean you are in some kind of functioning condition. I hope you received my positive vibes loud and clear and that they eased your difficulties at least by a little bit. I can send you some more if you need them. Looking forward to reading news of how things are going. I'd like to think that another dancing video is on the way but you may well not be back quite to that level yet. No hurry. But still keen to know how you're getting on. Till then here's some more best wishes to be getting on with,

    5. it's still hanging on and kicking my ass. 6 more days of meds. on a positive note, I am not gripping my left side in pain each time I cough. but sleeping/eating/energy levels are not normal (for me) yet. more mojo/karma will be graciously accepted. think I will have a spot o tea next...

thank you, dear raybeard; you are a prince of a boyfriend! smooches! :)

    6. Okay A.M. While you're waiting for the six days to be gotten over with (with the desired results, of course), here's another bundle of positive vibes for you - CATCH!

    7. ooooooh, got it, but I catch like a girl! ;-)

took today off work again; this is now 3 days in a row. on another positive note, I have lost 7 pounds during this illness, but I would not recommend this method to anyone. I have no desire to read, knit, eat, go to the gym - some of the things I like to do. ugh!

    8. That's okay - I throw like a girl!

Yes, sounds like a drastic slimming 'method', though that wasn't the point. Hope you're back to 'fighting fit' v. soon - though you're managing to keep up your usual brand of sparkling dialogue. Best of luck with the rest of the 'cure'.

    9. I just had a 5 hour nap; the best sleep since last friday night. I think it's breaking up, and I will spare you the nasty details regarding that.

  10. I hope you kick this flu right in the ass, and then maybe take that kick down to Congress and use it there.
    Quick question: FOADIAFF
I get the FOAD but I'm stumped at the IAFF?
