Saturday Night Dance Party!

This is how I am feeling right now.

Dance like no one's watching.

Sing like no one's listening.

"Cruel Summer" - and it HAS been a cruel hazy hot humid hell here (oooooh, alliteration!) for weeks!  Fuck the dog days of August!

  1. You must be feeling sticky in all the heat and humidity. How about finding a waterfall to shower underneath like Ann Darrow in King Kong? Butt nekkid or wearing a swimsuit, it's you're choice. :)

  2. G'day, A.M.
Yes, I don't envy what you're going through weather-wise. No cruelty in our Summer here, with temps most days now comfortably in the low 70s - though it's forecast to top 80 for a coupla days next week (Wow!), something I guess you'd die for right now (rather than die IN!). Particularly harsh on the little'uns in their perma-fur coats.

You give us this week a record from my disco-dancing era. Although I quite liked Bananarama, it was more from their association with that time rather than their actual 'singing' which I always thought sounded lazy, most of their songs delivered in the very same couldn't-care-less style no matter what the words said (Exception - the wonderful 'Venus'). This one was not quite as big as some of theirs, reaching 'only' #8 here, and #9 in America.
But you posted this ditty because of the song's title, of course. Incidentally, around the same time there was another very appropriately titled hit here (not in U.S.) the Style Council's 'Long Hot Summer'

All okay here - apart from still waiting for dental recovery works to begin, something I'm most definitely NOT looking forward to. Very shortly will have a cup-a-soup (tomato) sipped delicately through a straw - such is life now!

I won't say "Keep cool!" (oh, I just did) but I hope you can manage to do at least something to shield you from those pressure-cooker temps.
Hoping that before too long they'll come down for you.

Have a fine w/e if it's at all poss - and try not to think too much of the Trump despite there being so many weeks yet to go.

    Soothing icy thoughts to all.
    'Bye!

    1. I agree with your "bananarama" assessment.

we are not going anywhere; the neighborhood is quiet, no one outside with a lawn mower or other noisy yard toy. currently 98F, but feels like 107F.

    2. Just stay still, A.M., and avoid generating needless and extraneous body heat.

WQ, I commend you on another PERFECT song choice!
Yesterday, in the early morning hours, I stocked up on food, wine, and cat food; Ivy and I are well supplied and ready to stay the hell inside. Even opening my front door to get my newspaper felt like I'd been thrust into a blast furnace. And you know I must care for my virginal alabaster skin... ;-)

  4. I always rather enjoyed this number. Bananarama was one of those groups from my early days of hittin the discos and cruisin' the streets of Key West. 1980s baby!
Cruel Summer is an appropriate description for the crap we are having to endure from a certain white supremist (also from the 1980s) and all his batshit crazy followers this election cycle.

  5. You couldn't have picked a more appropriate video. I've been sweltering in this hellish humidity for weeks and there's no end in sight for the heat. I'm thinking about moving to Raybeard's neighborhood - where the summers are cool.

The Dog Days suck. I'm waiting for the Cat Nights to begin...

  6. Good morning! Summer can be brutal at times, and I have to agree with you. We have higher than normal humidity right now, and my sinuses are not enjoying this weather. I'm also feeling quite sore thanks to a new purchase I made on Thursday. I'll likely post a pic on the blog later today.

    Don't worry. It's rated G! *laughs*

  7. At school we used to Lip Sync to Banarama songs ... just like Banarama themselves are doing in this video (haha)!

I always liked 'Robert DeNiro's Waiting' as well. They sure wore a lot of makeup, didn't they? Between them and Boy George England must have had to ration out the makeup supply.

  8. Well, it's finally settled weather here in London Town. So much so the bbq will be making an outing in our courtyard tomorrow. I'll be sure to crank this track up.
