Dance like no one's watching.
Sing like no one's listening.
"Allentown" - life in Donald Dump's Murikkka (they're closing all the factories down).
True Fact - I live about one hour south of Allentown and Bethlehem (mentioned in the song).
RESIST! ORGANIZE! MOBILIZE! CALL OUT THE H8!
G'day, W.Q.,
ReplyDeleteDidn't know this Billy J song at all, and with your local connection too. He sure was a hottie in his day.
All fine here. Supposed to be having Spring weather but today we're shivering under a sea-mist. It's probably sunny and warm a mile or so inland from here. I think you're currently back on the cold side - at least according to the world weather forecast I saw at 2 a.m. after Blackso had woken me up for an unearthly-hour snack, and his snack nearly turned into a smack. though I restrained myself. It would be unforgivable if I were to give him a first wallop in his 18th year.
Everything okay with you? Good good.
I'm off shortly to see a 3-hour German film - and it's a COMEDY. Fun, fun, fin all the way!
W/e greetings to all - and have a happy one.
Byeeeeee!
yeah, he was hot then, not so much now.
Deletewe are expecting 12"+ of snow on tuesday; we are already on alert. this sucks. :(
nyla wants breakfast at 3a; nuh-huh. mommy and daddy need their beauty sleep. cat kibble and water are at the ready 24/7, so no one goes hungry here.
have a good week, king and his pussies!
Did you just say "SNOW"? Holy cow! That doesn't just suck, it damn well stinks to High Heaven. Must be a sign from 'above'!
Deleteyep, I said S-N-O-W! winter is not over yet!
DeleteSounds like a lot of your lovely, happy flowers, incl those daffs popping out hopefully early, are going to meet a premature demise. Sad. But it can't last - surely?
Deleteyeah, we figure the blossoms are doomed. we are in the 8-12 inch snow band starting early tuesday morning. SNOW DAY FROM WORK!
DeleteI loved this song. Forgot all about it. Never made the connection to the town and your location so looked it up Allentown on the map to get my bearings.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend honey.

the steel mill in bethlehem is now a casino. allentown has never recovered. philly is #1 - for the most citizens living in poverty. and does the federal guvmint care? FUCK NO!
DeleteEach week now when I see your protest song selection I can hear Alicia Keys' song "This Girl is on Fire" go through my head ...

Did Village People do a cover of this song? I think the men in hard hats taking a shower break would have been up their alley!
ReplyDeletenot that I know of; but the shower scene DID have some HAWT MENZ!
DeleteThis is one of may fave BJ songs.
ReplyDeleteBilly Joel! Not that other BJ.
Just sayin', though factory men? Yum, sometimes!
nothing wrong with a good BJ, bob. and I figured some of my boyfriends would dig the factory men (1:56 to 2:06); wonder what the dude in the towel is packing? anyway, it got ME to lusting...
DeleteYou sure are making me feel young of late.....I don't remember any of these songs, and like Abba To you, is how I am with Billy Joel. I have no idea why, just never been a fan I guess. And what's with this snow!!!!! My blueballs, I mean, my blue bells are drooping.
ReplyDeletehoney, I am waaaaay older than you; perhaps next week's selection will be more to your liking. 12"+ on tuesday - what the fuck is THAT all about?????
Delete12" on a Tuesday, what's that about????? I know right? That's usually a Saturday night for me!💋💋💋
DeleteBilly Joel in his Woody Guthrie phrase obviously! Have a good weekend, Anne Marie!
ReplyDeletesame to you, bee goddess!
DeleteI remember this song and video back in the day. It was one of his better tunes.
ReplyDeleteWe've got perfect weather this weekend. Sunny. Mid-80s. Slight breeze. On top of that, my chickenshit Congressman is having a town hall in Ramona, CA in about an hour or so. I won't be attending, but I can't wait to see video on it later today.
Have a great weekend!
Great song. Resist then revolt! #DonTheCon
ReplyDeleteStorm's acomin'!
ReplyDeleteThe only Billy Joel I'm familiar with is the current one. I was recently shocked to learn he was once married to Christie Brinkley.
ReplyDeleteoh lawdy, honey, you must be a sweet young one! billy has been around since the 70s. google him! we in philly have a sweet spot for billy!
DeleteMy oldest brother went to Lehigh University for one semester back in 1972. My first trip ever to Philly was driving him to school.
