Saturday Night Protest Party!

This is how I am feeling right now.

Dance like no one's watching.

Sing like no one's listening.

"Rise" - in celebration with the people of Puerto Rico; they got rid of their governor by protesting/marching in the streets/keeping the pressure on for 11 straight days.  NOW WHY CAN'T WE DO THE SAME TO GET RID OF THE DUMP?????

"Keep believing. Keep marching. Keep building. Keep raising your voice. Every generation has the opportunity to remake the world.” - Barack Obama, July 2018

  2. We Brits are in good company with you now, W.Q., with our very own home-grown governor-in-chief and full-time oaf, BoJo the Bozo, lording it over us. What absolutely SPIFFING fun it's going to be - NOT!

Btw: Was it reported there that this is our first ever P.M. entering the Downing Street residence, in which he's going to live with someone who is NOT his/her spouse? (He's still officially married). Of course he'd by no means be the first to 'play away' but all previous holders of that lofty position (except, of course, bachelor Ted Heath - gay, but not 'properly' confirmed so till after his death) after being 'appointed' by the monarch enter that place conspicuously with their husband/wife in tow - until now. His current 'affair' (the one he'd had that recent row with) was waiting outside among a small knot of people listening to his opening bluster-speech and then went in by herself later when the buzz had died down.

So there's not going to be a dull moment for months to come (except that everyone's now gone on Summer hols until Sept!). Don't know which I'm more worried about - Brexit or Global heating. If it's currently a draw at least the first is still reversible if we passionate Remainers play our cards right. Not so sure about the second though.
I think you've got yet more sweltery days ahead. We've returned to normality after having recorded this country's highest ever temp since records began - 102F in Cambridge. Hardly dare think how this is going to end - or are we now unavoidably approaching that very thing? Scary, scary, scary!
But until that happens, I really do wish you all a comfortable and manageably cool and relaxing w/e - and let's be thankful that at we least don't have to wear permanent fur-coats!

    1. How long before a married POTUS can move into 1600 with someone who's NOT his wife (or husb) and with hardly anyone batting an eyelid? - or at least not for that reason. It only needs to become 'official', I suppose - though if that Pres happened to be a Dem the Reps would never shut up about it! However, if it was a Rep Pres I've no doubt that evangelicals, including likes of current Veep, would be prepared to overlook that un-noteworthy 'little foible' if it's in their own interests.

I've been following the daily New York (city) temps and there it really does look cruel - 90F today? I always assume that you'd be something similar, though maybe just slightly cooler.
For us temps around 70F for about next fortnight forecast. Much more comfy for me and, more importantly, for the four pussies, currently sleeping it off in various locations around this place.
Enjoy rest of w/e, won't you?

    3. Patchie's latest location for repose (it keeps changing whenever he feels it's time for a different view) is.......the toilet (with lid down, I hasten to clarify!). Damned inconvenient it is too. I'm not gong to say that it's just as well the bathroom has a sink 'cos that would be telling!

  3. Herb Alpert on Soul Train. I missed that one. We need to get rid of much more than Trumpo The Criminal Clown! There’s an entire administration and Congress that need purging.

  5. I LOVE Ricky Martin! (Herb Alpert is ok too!) :)

After working tirelessly to rebuild Puerto Rico through donations and fund raising after hurricane Maria, he has this shit to deal with.

He is not the only hero there, but the most well known.

    2. I just learned something I did not know and, makes no sense. Puerto Rico citizens can vote in the US Primary election , but not the general election. Makes no sense!?

    1. You mean like Ella Fitzgerald? Didn't they call it skat?

    2. I was referring to the fact that nobody sang live on these shows. They lip synched everything. I just wondered if they called it the same thing when there was no vocalist, just instruments not being played live. I'm overthinking this. I totally agree about Ella, Carebear! I've got her Live From Berlin album. That was some talent!

  9. Sadly, there are too many people in this country to march, but imagine if hundreds of thousands of us converged on DC and shouted for him to go?
Well, he wouldn't, and even if he did, we'd have Miss Pence. I'm holding out for a landslide vote against him.

    PS
Thanks for all the well wishes AM.

  10. I'm going with Deedles's theme here, everyone calls dump a pig and I say "stop the abuse".... pigs are a smart animal, the little ones are cute running around with their little oink oinks, plus they make delicious bacon out of them so at least pigs are useful! Hopefully a giant t-rex appears out of a recently opened coal mine and swallows up you know who!

    1. Hey, what have you got against giant t-rexes?! ;-) I love little pigs! I however don't equate them with the delicious breakfast ambrosia that is bacon. Or ham, or pork chops, or ribs, or ham hocks, or chitlin's etc..

    2. I just had some bacon for breakfast.

    3. I just knew Deedles was going to say that about t-rex dinosaurs. Well I didn't say it would get indigestion, actually it probably wouldn't need to eat for days after.
Anne Marie, I was going to have bacon but it's too hot so I just had my wheeties!

  11. My Mom owned and played the hell out of every album Herb Alpert put out!!

Don't worry, the protests are coming... and the Maga Heads are stupid to know what's coming... now, what's new about that?
