Saturday Night Protest Party!

This is how I am feeling right now.

Dance like no one's watching.

Sing like no one's listening.

"Freedom" - because this is the 50th anniversary of Woodstock.  And because we cry for freedom from Donald Dump and his dumplings!

"Keep believing. Keep marching. Keep building. Keep raising your voice. Every generation has the opportunity to remake the world.” - Barack Obama, July 2018

PS - HAPPY BIRTHDAY (August 17) to Michael!

  2. One of the biggest surprise hits from Woodstock! Richie Havens on his acoustic guitar with a song for the soul... who'd a thunk?

Red flags are being waved all over the place in regard to the Idiot Jerk's chances of being re-elected... which means he's going to lie like hell.

    1. Dave.. you mean he's going to lie even more than he does now! Is that even possible? Lol

Hi Anne Marie you sexy babe, have a great Saturday! ;)

    2. @dave - he ALWAYS lies; the word THE is a lie from that shithead.

@steven - sexy? you need new glasses!

    3. I'm getting new glasses remember? Lol.. and everyone knows that sexy has nothing to do with looks! ;)

  4. Good morning, Carebear. I hope you and yours are feeling well. Not a Richie Havens fan, but I do enjoy your eclectic taste in music. Right now, I'm enjoying the smooth voice of Matt Monro. A four disc cd with nary a turkey on it! I need the peace and his voice is very soothing, with a slight English accent coming through. I will probably be singing Born Free all day now.

    1. Not so well known as he deserved, even here in the U.K. and at the height of his fame Matt Monro hardly reached A-list celebrity status. Nevertheless I've long maintained that his was the best male singing voice our country ever produced, with spot-on accuracy and impeccable articulation - and I used to say it when he was yet alive! It's reassuring to read that he's still appreciated, and beyond these shores too. Thank you D.!

    2. Raybeard, Matt Monro is very appreciated in my household. Well, by me anyway! I love his song choices and he doesn't bore me the way Perry Como does :) Such a warm voice.

    3. matt monro, the UK version of frank sinatra. wonderful voice. perry como was a pennsylvanian AND a racist.

    4. Oh, Carebear, I like Matt Monro more than I like Sinatra. Perry Como, a racist on top of boring? Sheesh! Dean Martin could wipe the floor with him.

    5. Way back in the 50s when we first got a telly (b/w naturally, with just TWO channels!) we always used to watch 'The Perry Como Show'. Must admit that I always found his voice, then and since, quite acceptable though of course we knew nothing about him and off-screen issues. In retrospect what I now find creepy about his show (and every other similar at the time, I suspect) was that every single one of his backing singers and dancers was mercilessly WHITE - not even the subtlest shade of brown was visible! A product of its time, I suppose, though how anyone would want to return to that state of affairs - and I've no doubt there are millions who do - is beyond my comprehension.

    6. @deedles - yeah, dean was better than perry.

@raybeard - racism has never been completely eliminated in this country. and THAT is a damn disgrace!

  5. Good morning, and such a wonderful song I haven't heard in several years. We definitely need our freedom from the Orange Fucknugget. The sooner, the better.

  7. I know exactly how you feel, W.Q. My thoughts are precisely the same though over here it's regarding BoJo and that infernal BREXIT which BLOTUS and that Bolton fella want so much 'cos it'll just about transform us into the 51st state - or 52nd if they manage to pull in Greenland before us! Strewth!

Have a pleasant w/e - even though I see you're going to be baking once again, and I don't mean in the kitchen (which might be true as well). Keep y'all cool!

    1. denmark has already told the dump to fuck right off, greenland is NOT for sale!

we are indoors today doing house chores; it is too damn hot outside. RTG picked some more ripe tomatoes and a cucumber from the garden. I have laundry to do. groceries from yesterday's weekly trip are being put away. there will be some knitting; I am making a winter hat for a co-worker per his request. and naps.

the only kitchen activity will be tonight's dinner - pasta and meatballs and wine.

pussie girls are already deep into their morning naps.

      have a good week, 2-foots & 4-foots!

    2. We've now got a P.M. AND his personally picked reactionary Cabinet members who are all so desperate to do a deal, ANY deal, with U.S.A. that they'll not only never tell him to F.O., but being in such a panic to replace the rest of Europe with Trumpland, BLOTUS has now got the U.K. over a barrel, exactly where he wants us. So adios to our previous insistence on higher standards of animal welfare (in farms and slaughterhouses) and food hygiene generally, and welcome to genetically modified foods and mass-produced chlorinated chicken (both banned by the European Union). All just one step, but a major step, towards our complete and utter acquiesence to the wishes of the Big Orange Genius who must feel ever so chuffed to get his way with no effort at all. We used to think that Margaret Thatcher was too right-wing! If she was alive today she'd be rolling over in her grave!

Patchie still spending all his indoor time in strange and inconvenient choice of bathroom. Wish he'd decide it was time for a change of location. So all as before, also regarding the three others.

I see temps in NY forecast for 90F+ tomorrow. Don't envy you.

    3. NO ONE has EVER told the dump NO. more people should.

silly patchie! 95F forecast for here tomorrow. the only place I am headed is into work for the day. that's why I went to the grocery store yesterday and not monday, my normal day to do that errand.

  8. Great song from an underappreciated musician. Cheeto's lies will only succeed in energizing his opposition. Support the resistance. RJJS

  9. I was 19 when this was performed at Woodstock. Richie Havens was a beatnik X hippie. He was right in the transfer but never made it really big after. We marched in the streets burning our draft cards and screaming we were not going to kill people we had no quarrel with and would condemn those who did (US soldiers). Plus, not die for "Tricky Dick"! All while being fucked by a married professor at college. (Now Sing) Those were the days my friend! lol

    2. Don't forget, 1969 was also the height of the Vietnam War. Crimes against humanity were committed often in Vietnam.

Four years difference at that age is HUGE!

    3. Bobby Kennedy killed the year before, Kent State murders the year after. Your video was smack in the middle. It picks open many old scabs that have yet healed with many people. I cannot express in writing the mood and electricity in the air.
Oh well,...I tend to go on a bit

    4. 68 was a horrible year; my uncle, MLK, RFK, the chicago dem convention (the whole world is watching). 69 was no better. 70 was kent state. I thought the US was going to explode back then. silly me, it's been simmering since then. (insert "we didn't start the fire" here)

  11. Happy Weekend!!! I have been behind on the news with vists and could care less of that turd. We are still awaiting the town to be "wet" again.

And when the mistress left, she took the perfect weather with her...it's gotten very hot here again. I may let it all hang out in the yard today.
