Saturday Night #BlackLivesMatter Protest Party! (Part 4)
This is how I am feeling right now. In memory of Eric Garner.
"Keep
believing. Keep marching. Keep building. Keep raising your voice.
Every generation has the opportunity to remake the world.” - Barack
Obama, July 2018
The Supremes! My firstest most favoritest group when when I was a teenager. I did think it was rather sad that the white dancers had to surge front and past them during their vocal rather than the instrumental.
All part of the richness of our experiences, though all too often overlooked when it's 'inconvenient' But NO ONE should need to 'earn' their worth when it's self-evident anyway.
Good choices. My alma mater has the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival every year. We also just watched "Remember the Titans" and they had a lot of wonderful, old-school choices in there as well. Love the quote from President Obama. Hard to believe that only a few years ago that we had a president that could actually form intelligent thoughts and inspire us. Take care. #BlackLivesMatter
Thanks for the welcome and thanks for stopping by mine. It would be great to have President Obama back in the White House. Can Biden pick him to be his VP?
I don't know many of these songs, but I do love me some Ella Fitzgerald. I also preferred the Marvalettes over the Supremes. Diana just killed the group for me. I just texted the Mistress to see how far he had gotten to see if it was to late for him to turn around and come back!!!! It will be back to dullville now. We don't want to return him yet. Hope your enjoying your weekend.
What a lovely set. Ronettes, Crystals, Marvelettes. So many memories. I always envied those girl groups cohesion. Would be nice to be a part of something so special. Thanks for sharing these.
Get me my smelling salts, stat! There were so many girl groups around that time that it is easy to get confused. My favorite by the Marvelettes is "Don't Mess With Bill".
