jay, google "mad libs". it was started by MAD magazine years ago.

so see what sean did above and try it out!
I can't wait to see the results! We used to do Mad Libs in school when I was a kid. We also did it with our own kids on long trips. Once, they got me laughing so hard on a trip to the midwest, that I had to pull the car over until I could stop laughing. :-)

Oh, and that film. Thanks to the little clues provided by Jay M. and your own good self I've decided it can be none other than the (boring) 1946 David Niven film 'A Matter of Life and Death'. Am I right? Thought so. In advance of your confirmation thereof I should like to inform you that I donate my rightful 50 points to your nearest cats' home. Am I not I the generous one?
pip pip, lovey! did you get snow like 2 of my friends (one lives in bristol, the other in london)?
Deletethanks for playing along! you too get a lovely parting gift! I must say, your word choice is particularly interesting. wonder how it will play out in the game?
as for the film: (buzzer sounds) WRONG! sorry, you don't win the consolation prize!
Thanks for enquiring re snow, A.M. Alas, yes, we've got it! (I've only just now posted a blog to that effect where you can also see my pussies.)
DeleteSo I was wrong about the film? Drat! Maybe I need an 'encounter' with, say, a certain Mr Dreyfuss (to pluck any name out of the air) to help me out here.
I have seen and I have commented.

I feel so out of it...I play games with friends at parties (we love games) and at every family gathering we play board games, card games, you name it - last Christmas it was 4 hours of Phase 10 - but I swear I don't think I've EVER played Mad Libs, so I am LOST LOST LOST!!!!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHAHA
PLEASE fill me in!!!!
Peace <3
Jay
So, Anne Marie in Philly, I expect you to teach me how to play mad libs at the spo-a-thon. If you do, I'll dance with you!
DeleteJay
oh ho, so a dance is conditional, eh? your challenge has been met with a white glove, buddy! a duel to the death! oh wait, this is not alexander hamilton and aaron burr, is it?
Deletethe premise of MAD libs is this. here is a famous line we all know: "jack and jill went up the hill". now, remove a few words, so "jack and jill (verb) up the (noun)".
without knowing the line, the player contributes random words for the (blanks). for example, verb = squats, noun = chair.
the leader then reads the line aloud, using the player's words for the (blanks), so "jack and jill squats up the chair".
this is a simplistic example and not quite as funny as it can be.
so, I am the leader. I have a small (3 paragraph) scene written out on paper. I have many (blanks) that need to be completed in my scene. your job (should you choose to accept it) is to fill in the (blanks) with the necessary words. and you have done so quite nicely with the words you have chosen above.
in a few days (so I don't ruin the game for other busy boyfriends who wish to play), I will publish my scene with the (blanks) completed by each of the players above. there will be much laughter and pants pissing, I presume.
should I bring my travel scrabble to the "spo-a-rama-lama-ding-dong"? or "connect 4"? are you staying at ron's hotel overnight?
I am staying at Ron's. I'll bring Fluxx. It's an interesting card game where the rules change as you play.
DeleteJay
YOU get to stay at ron's HOUSE? lucky you! the rest of us have to pay ron's hotel.
DeleteNo, no, I just didn't put "hotel" on the end of the sentence. HAHAHAHA
DeleteJay
oh, ok. yeah, bring the card game and I'll bring my shizzzz. this is going to be fun! :)
