M'ning A.M. You give us here another of those records that defined the moment - in this case early 70s. I remember we thought at the time that the film would signal a new kind of crime-caper/crime-stopper cinema, though if it happened at all it was to be short-lived. This single 'only' got to #4 in UK though I see it was a chart-topper in America.
The story of Isaac Hayes is a strange one, what with his late conversion to the Scientology cult (I use the 'c' word deliberately because they dislike it so much) - and, not long afterwards, his untimely demise. But his 'Chocolate Salty Balls' was unforgettable and, were it not for 'Shaft' it would have been a particularly fine epitaph to have remembered him by. (Tee hee!)
Greetings to all, not least the little furballs - and a nice Labour Day w/e to you.
