Well, not THE Queen, but as close as I'll ever get.
I took the train to New York City; a chilly and rainy and foggy day it was.
This is Tallula (name changed to protect the innocent). She lives in the UK.
She is a knitting friend of mine. We "met" on our knitting/crochet social website...Wednesday we met in person! Isn't she just lovely!
I talked her into trying a chocolate egg cream, a NYC specialty.
For those that don't know, a chocolate egg cream comprises chocolate syrup, milk, and plain seltzer water. No eggs allowed! Yum yum! Does it make your mouth water, Mitchell?
I had our server (Mike) at the Tick Tock Diner take our picture.
Thank you, Tallula, for a wonderful afternoon of talking/knitting/drinking! Come visit again soon, but next time make it Philly!
Always so nice when you can get to meet bloggers and people whom you feel you have known on web communities isn't it? Looks like you two had fun, but that chocolate drink is giving me a pain looking at it. And I must admit, I love the train ride up too. It's even better when I get the club car...you know, gin.
ReplyDeletethis trip RULED! I had a G&T at the diner too!
DeleteHey there hope all is going well...NYC looked like is was fun!! Take care!
ReplyDeleteit was a pleasant diversion from the bullshit of the past 2 months for me.
DeleteYes it makes my mouth water! How about starting a blogging group for delicious snacks?
ReplyDeletewe would HAVE to put bananas on that list, correct?
DeleteHow cool is THAT!
ReplyDeletenot often do I get the chance to do something wild and crazy!
DeleteIt's always so much fun to meet someone in real life that you've only previously known from the internet! Looks like you had a great time! I've heard of egg creams but didn't realize they were just a NY thing or still being made -- I thought they were from the past. Clearly mistaken.
ReplyDeleteegg creams are alive and well and living in NYC!
DeleteSounds like a lot of fun was had by all. :-)
ReplyDeleteyaaaassss! tallula is delightful!
DeleteYes, another blogger meetup! I'm always happy to see these. I'm glad you had a great time.
ReplyDeleteit's fun; tallula is the same on our knitting social website as she is in person. I'mma still jealous that fearsome beard met YOU!
DeleteNo egg in an egg cream? WTF? Why do they call it egg cream then?
ReplyDeletehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egg_cream
Deleteread all about it!
Looks like fun. And ... not to be blowing smoke up the hiney but ... that last photo really shows off your blue eyes, they're quite nice. A mischievous sparkle yes, but the colour really comes through in this photo.
ReplyDelete~ Freckles
oh sweet mother of pearl, you ENLARGED the photo????? THAT scares the rats away fer sure! you are a brave woman, freckles.
Deletein reality, my eyes are a blue-gray colour. the hair colour is from a box. and there is no makeup on that mug o mine. what ya see is what ya get. not bad for 62, righto?
(blushes at the compliment)
PS - some of my blogger friends just might enjoy smoke up the posterior...just sayin'...
I glad you had a great time. You probably need a break from the routine. RJJS
ReplyDeleteyeah, I need a new job too. tallula gave me a one-day boost of happiness!
Deleteisn't she though? glad I had the chance to meet tallula in person!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Ah, taking the train to NY. I'm jealous. Here we have to settle for taking the train to Paris. ;)
ReplyDeletebwhahahahahaha! sounds more romantic to go to paris! did the egg cream catch your eye; are you jealous?
DeleteHi AM!, I know as I found out it's great to finally meet up with fellow bloggers and other online friends. Like at Lewes,DE March 2014. Again sorry for not being around much these past few months.
ReplyDeleteno probs, I am always out here!
DeleteThese drinks could form my new diet.
ReplyDeleteJP
the chocolate egg cream is an acquired taste, the gin & tonic is not!
DeleteI have a sudden craving girl chocolate
ReplyDeleteI ALWAYS crave chocolate!
DeleteAnyone who knits in a diner gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteJP
I was knitting too. if I ever visit the spanish onion, I will knit in front of you and guido and all your patrons.
DeleteYes, she is lovely. And now I have Stevie Wonder singing it in my head. Some earworms are actually pretty nice.
ReplyDeletethat earworm I wouldn't mind either!
DeleteI've never been disappointed when I've met in person "friends" I've known online. Glad you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteI have met a few duds in the past 10 years. but 98% of my online friends are SUPER FABU!
DeleteI've never had an egg cream. News to me that they don't have eggs in them. Wonder if there's anywhere in Philly that makes a good one?
ReplyDeletehi new friend! perhaps the famous 4th street deli downtown. out here in the burbs, michael's deli in king of prussia. any good jewish deli would make an egg cream , I think.
DeleteHow wonderful, keep having fun!
ReplyDeleteit's a delight to meet people with whom you have corresponded for some time.
Deletealthough sometimes that meeting does not result in a productive exchange; I can name (but I won't) a few people I have met that turned out to be toxic individuals. I had to drop them for my sanity's sake.
