I Went to NYC to Visit the Queen

Well, not THE Queen, but as close as I'll ever get.

I took the train to New York City; a chilly and rainy and foggy day it was.

This is Tallula (name changed to protect the innocent).  She lives in the UK.

She is a knitting friend of mine.  We "met" on our knitting/crochet social website...Wednesday we met in person!  Isn't she just lovely!

I talked her into trying a chocolate egg cream, a NYC specialty.

For those that don't know, a chocolate egg cream comprises chocolate syrup, milk, and plain seltzer water.  No eggs allowed!  Yum yum!  Does it make your mouth water, Mitchell?

I had our server (Mike) at the Tick Tock Diner take our picture.

Thank you, Tallula, for a wonderful afternoon of talking/knitting/drinking!  Come visit again soon, but next time make it Philly!

  1. Always so nice when you can get to meet bloggers and people whom you feel you have known on web communities isn't it? Looks like you two had fun, but that chocolate drink is giving me a pain looking at it. And I must admit, I love the train ride up too. It's even better when I get the club car...you know, gin.

  5. It's always so much fun to meet someone in real life that you've only previously known from the internet! Looks like you had a great time! I've heard of egg creams but didn't realize they were just a NY thing or still being made -- I thought they were from the past. Clearly mistaken.

  9. Looks like fun. And ... not to be blowing smoke up the hiney but ... that last photo really shows off your blue eyes, they're quite nice. A mischievous sparkle yes, but the colour really comes through in this photo.

in reality, my eyes are a blue-gray colour. the hair colour is from a box. and there is no makeup on that mug o mine. what ya see is what ya get. not bad for 62, righto?

      (blushes at the compliment)

PS - some of my blogger friends just might enjoy smoke up the posterior...just sayin'...

    1. it's a delight to meet people with whom you have corresponded for some time.

although sometimes that meeting does not result in a productive exchange; I can name (but I won't) a few people I have met that turned out to be toxic individuals. I had to drop them for my sanity's sake.
