Brain Puke XVI

Look out blogger friends, I'mma gonna hurl!

As Freckles (the Canadian dear) pointed out, I have not written a post like this for over a year, so...THAR SHE BLOWS (heh heh heh)!

We lost 3 blogger friends this year: David Jeffries, Wayne The Cajun, Jay Murphy.  :(

Once a month, a local knitter friend and I meetup to drink and eat and talk and knit.  I have always had trouble making women friends cause...bitches.  I actually look forward to my meetups with "the tree"!

OMB, Spo sent me this FABU video yesterday:

I know beary guys are not everyone's cuppa tea (no rubbish) (sorry, Debra), but sweet mother of pearl!

I STILL wish my boyfriends lived closer to me.

I am STILL going to the gym 2x/week.  After 5 years, I am still fat, but I am strong and flexible and toning up and my arthritis keeps away due to weight lifting/pushing/pulling.  My highest is a leg machine - 215 pounds pushing.  My lowest is a shoulder machine - 20 pounds lifting.  I never thought that exercise could be fun and that I would stick with it this long.  I thank my caring trainers for that.

I finished 8 knitting projects this year.

Now for a musical interlude:

2015 saw some great things happen:

Marriage equality (finally)

Queen Elizabeth II became the longest-reigning monarch in Britain

Spouse and I got to Rehoboth Beach in October for a long weekend and some boyfriend meetups

I acquired some new blog followers

Justin Trudeau (RAWR!) elected PM of Canada

I celebrated 12 years at my job, the longest job I have ever held

Now for a musical interlude:

2015 also saw some shit hit the fan:

White people killing black people because...black

Donald the Rump, and the rest of the GOP h8ers

Religious nutjobs spouting off whackadoodle theories

Bill Cosby (what a skeevy homeboy)

All the Kraptrashian/Jenner Klan

All the Duggar Klan

Kim (the Kentucky Kunt) Davis

My loser baseball/football/basketball/hockey teams

Jessica Simpson and her ugly sister Ashlee...WHY do these two even exist

Some hillbillies named Joey & Rory F(r)eek

The entire US Congress

Several SCOTUS members

The entire PA state legislature

Domestic USA home-grown citizen terrorists

Now for a musical interlude:

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016 TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD YEAR!

Happy Holly Daze to one and all!

See if you can find "beavis and butthead", the 2 phillies ornaments, the yellow submarine, and "our first xmess" ornament!  No, there is no "waldo".

To my commenters - fun fax 4 u:

My tree is 38 years old, a gift from my sister when I moved into my first apartment in 1977 (I had been living with the sperm and egg donors until then).

The lights and the treetop star are new this year.

The tree skirt was crocheted in the late 80s by a now-deceased former co-worker.

The tree is under four feet (a nod to spo) and sits on my sunporch so as not to tempt my curious kitties.

So I Won This Award...

Here are the rules:

My personal nominations (in no particular order):

joe.my.god
blogoratti
going gently
I should be laughing
she who seeks
a day with the mistress borghese
the daily irritant
the adventures of travel penguin

cabinet of curious treasures
tales of the sissy

The Questions:

Which literary genre do you prefer - bio/autobio, travel, baseball, knitting

Why did you start blogging - cause I was dared into it by some boyfriends

Order or Chaos - order

Where would you like to live - right here in my hometown. If not, the hudson river valley in NY state

Starry sky or sunset - sunset

Better the paper book or rather the e-book - paper

What is the writing for - to connect with my boyfriends

What do you think about social networks - they suck.  I blog and belong to a knitting/crochet social network only.  I don't need the rest.

TV or not TV - no TV, TYVM

Favorite food - chinese, italian, thai, indian, seafood, mexican, bbq

Favorite music genres - everything but religious and (c)rap

Eleven random facts about me:

My favorite painter is Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

I am not a technogeek

I have no use for flat-screen tvs, ipods, blackberries, etc.

I do not bring my job home with me

I do not hang out with my co-workers after hours

I am a minimalist; I do not let possessions define me

I do not like extreme cold or extreme heat; my ideal climate is 70 degrees with low humidity

I am claustrophobic

I have a fear of heights

I have a fear of water

At a function where I know no one, I tend to stay on the perimeter, listening to conversations and people watching

My First Time (for everything)

Just because Spo and Penguin and John and Dodd are doing it...

My earliest memory – cooking with my maternal grandmother in her kitchen, 1959

First airline flight – 1970; high school trip to Europe; JFK to geneva, switzerland

First time "doing it” – 1972, age 19 with my first real boyfriend; awkward

First surgery – tonsils, age 6, 1960

First car – ford pinto; high school graduation gift, 1972; blue and white two-tone; my parents had a death wish for me

First death of someone close – my maternal uncle, 1968, due to cancer; he was only 38.  I didn’t find out until 1988 that he was gay

First drink – my maternal grandmother kept some mogen david concord grape wine (horrible shit) in the dining room sideboard; she “had a snort” when she couldn’t sleep

First regret – not marrying my first real boyfriend in 1973

First pet – Sydney, my first rescue cat, 1991

First presidential election – 1972; george mcgovern

First time you felt you were an adult – when I moved out of the parents’ house in 1977; I was 23

First job – 1970, cashier in a local (small) mom-n-pop variety store; dusting the fucking glass shelves was THE WORST

First realization of the axiom “life is not fair” – being bullied at school and at home

Losing my virginity – 1977, age 23; some unknown guy; never saw him again; I DO remember he was a ginger boy with a beard!

First house – 1985, a one bedroom condo in northern Virginia with my now ex-husband; I held that mortgage until 1999, when I sold the condo to move back to philly

First camera – polaroid swinger, late 1960s

First checkbook – age 23, to pay the rent on my apartment

Passing my driving test at age 18 (1971)

First 45 record – “get off my cloud”, rolling stones

First record album – “rubber soul”, beatles

First cigarettes - in college 1972-1976; never got hooked

First (and only) divorce - 1991; ex-husband went on to remarry and have 6 kids; he's an idiot

The spouse and I took a long weekend "downdashore" to commemorate his birthday and our anniversary.

Go to Mark's blog to see pix of our Friday night escapade!  A fun evening with my Delaware boyfriends!

This is where we stayed (heh heh heh, "anus")

Pretties!

Ask And You Shall Receive - Part 4

Several of my boyfriends have all written similar posts - ask me anything.

Well, because I have no shame, and I steal ideas from others, and I have some fairly new readers/followers (like Two Men), I'mma gonna do it too!

Please feel free to ask me anything ya wanna know.  Of course, I reserve the right to plead the 5th Amendment if the information revealed would be too painful, or would harm another.  Answers will appear in the comments (when I get around to it).

So get down on it (with a gin-n-tonic or a cosmo in hand)!

To see some other people who share my day, go here.

So what am I doing to celebrate?

At some point this weekend, spouse will take me out for cock-a-tails (a nod to the Mistress) and dinner.

Wish we could get away someplace, but no money stops us.

So let's dance our asses off instead!

Can you do the walk, do the walk of life.

Because YOU Asked For It!

The following people have requested the recipe:

Bob
Jon
Sandra
Jay
Dr. Spo

I aims to please!  And I challenge Blobby to make this for himself and 710!  I would also like to see Fearsome Beard try this!

tomato soup cake

2 cups flour
1-1/3 cups sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 can (10.75 oz) tomato soup (like campbell’s)
1/2 cup olive oil (or canola or sunflower)
2 eggs
1/4 cup water

*********************************************

preheat oven to 350 degrees F

spray a bundt pan with non-stick cooking spray

dump all ingredients into a mixing bowl

mix for 1 minute on low speed, then for 4 minutes on high speed

pour batter into bundt pan

bake for 50 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean (your oven, your mileage may vary)

let cake cool on wire rack for 20 minutes before removing it from bundt pan

frost with buttercream or cream cheese icing

this makes a nice spice cake; you would NEVER guess the secret ingredient (the tomato soup) because you cannot taste it!

More Signs on a Sultry Summer Day

It's HOT outside (and not in a good way either).  :(

So whilst I indulge in a cock-a-tail (or three) with Mistress Maddie's spirit hovering about, I decided to post some scenes about the house.

Two twitches of tails whilst bird watching

Nyla airing out her undercarriage

The crape myrtle is in bloom

Tomato soup cake (just like Dr. Spo's birthday cake) hot outta da oven!  I baked this yesterday; it's almost gone

 Outta da bundt pan!

Who wants a slice?  I added some buttercream icing!
I'd love to see Blobby tackle this cake!
If ya want the recipe, just ask!

The first beefsteak tomato from the garden, along with more cherry (grape) tomatoes

Cukes too (do these remind you of anyone you know?)
We gave these to our neighbors
